It was storming outside badly at night.

You weren't expecting it to be this bad so you had to postpone going outside for a couple of days.

You turned off the lights to the house and headed upstairs to the room you shared with your boyfriend, Macaque.

"Macaque?" You looked around the bed. You ended up hearing whimpering in the closet as a response.

You carefully headed towards the closet and opened it. You could see in the corner was your boyfriend curled up in a ball, crying. This broke you.

Something was clearly wrong and you didn't know exactly what but you had to do something.

You gently tapped on his shoulder causing him to jolt up and look at you. You softly smiled and opened your arms wide.

"Come here..." You spoke softly as he carefully went towards you.

Knowing him, if you guys hadn't been close he would've immediately denied such a request. He was always stubborn and quiet with his emotional side to others but with you right now. It was completely different.

He finally ended up in your arms as he wrapped his arms around you. His tail wrapped around your leg as he was shaking a bit but why.

You pulled him towards your bed delicately as you laid him down, wrapping a blanket around him incase he was freezing.

"You're okay hun." You whispered. "You're going to be okay..."

Another thunder bolt struck right outside causing him to yelp and put his hands on his ears hard, gripping them as tears slowly came out again.

You widened, realizing the situation as you booked it to the next room over. Macaque took notice of you being gone and started to freak out.

"L-lotus?!" He questioned as he looked around before he whimpered, covering his ears again as he closed his eyes.

He suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder again and he immediately looked up. It was you, you've returned with something.

"W-where did you go?.." He frowned which hurt your soul.

"I went to go grab this." You spoke softly, showing him your headphones. "These will help you, put them on please."

He looked at you hesitantly before taking a deep breath, trusting you. You never knew he had sensitive ears, yes you knew he had more than a pair of ears but you never really thought of them having extreme sensitivity to sound.

This also explained all the times he'd show his real form and end up twitching out a bit. Or when he jolts because of a loud noise.

You felt bad for him having to go through it all without your knowledge until now. But that didn't stop you, you were gonna help him now and more often to make up for it.

Once Macaque placed them on he widened his eyes. It was quiet for him, he could barely hear a single thing and it felt so much better.

Judging by his reaction, you smiled at the fact it helped before giving him a peck on the forehead.

"I'm glad you're okay." You sighed. Instantly Macaque wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you with him under the blanket.

"Stay with me please." He whispered as he smiled shyly. You nodded in response before cuddling him.

His face was nuzzling against the crock of your neck as he kept you pressed up against him. You had started to carefully go through his hair, giving small caresses to calm him down.

You eventually started to hum to yourself to keep you distracted as well which caught Macaque's attention. He didn't interrupt you though, he felt and listened to your body sync with the tune. It felt nice to him too.

He really appreciated that you understood his predicament and helped him out even if he had said anything. You were just so understanding and caring.

He truly loved you and you knew that as well. And he knew that you loved him just as much as he did.

As you both stayed with each other in the bed as the storm continued to go by. It didn't bother either of you now, as long as you had each other.

Everything was going to be okay.
