Chapter 16 fight

Karim's POV

We nearly leaped at the door. Emi hit it with her head, as polite of a knock as we could muster at the moment. We had to move backwards and turn around to see the werewolf who was still following us close behind. The windows to the packhouse were now covered in curtains that had been made out of scrap fabrics. The wolf was running towards us, charging with its teeth bared. Emi and I stayed together. I was in front of her no matter what she tried to do.

The door behind me opened with a squeak and soon two more wolves joined us facing the bigger wolf. The wolf stopped for a moment, its eyes scanning our group in front of him. Its eyes locked just behind me and it pounced. I jumped up and met it in the middle, tackling him to the ground once more. I wasn't focused on much else, other than the fact that this wolf was my enemy. He kicked me off and got back to his feet, I had done some damage to his stomach but not enough to be fatal.

It changed its course to the near black wolf which was to my right. The two wolves seemed matched in fighting style and tactics. They were both fierce fighters who aimed for the most vital organs first, if not then they would aim to deal whatever damage they could. The other wolf who had come out of the house launched at the back of the enemy, aiding to distract him whilst the other wolf tore at them.

Emi wanted to join in, I could tell that without even looking towards her. She was moving quickly with no real aim, her paws didn't seem to want to stay on the floor. She was making a growling noise but she knew she couldn't do anything. The second wolf was thrown off the enemy as it suddenly moved backwards and shifted its focus from the dark wolf. I took this as the opportunity to take it from the side. I darted into it and pushed it against a tree, restricting ti's movements. I got a few good bites into ti's side as it yelped in pain. I tried my best to throw it back to the other wolves but the throw fell short.

My face was still in quite a bit of paint romt he scratches. We were joined by others but they didn't have my focus as I turned again and moved in front of Emi. She growled at me lightly but I rolled my eyes at her, she was just going to have to deal with it until we could figure something out.

"Keep them alive." Ralph ordered. I grunted slightly and shared a look with the other two wolves who were by my side. We each lunged at the enemy at the same time. Our main job was to knock him out or something. It would be far more difficult than one would expect.

I was distracted, I couldn't focus on what Emi was doing and the wolf in front of me at the same time. I got the fright of my life when a big part of a tree came down in front of me and landed on the wolf's head. I jumped back in surprise to see Emi, smiling at me in her human form.

"Finally good for something, yes?" She had an arm covering her chest now that the large piece of wood wasn't in ehr grasp. "I need clothes." A member of the pack laughed at that. I turned to see Rhodes walking towards us.

"Come on, we can go see if there's any in the shed." Emi mouthed 'shed?' to me as she hurriedly followed Rhodes. It wasn't normal for her to be in this situation with strangers. I've known her since she was a baby, we were family. It was a lot more comfortable, along with the fact we both knew we had no attraction to the opposite sex.

It didn't take long for Emi to come back, wearing clothes which made her look small and uncomfortable. "Can you change back?" I shook my head with a light huff, she looked towards the others, asking them silently for some help.

"Eben or Hollis will be able to help." Ralph smiled at us before looking worriedly at the wolf on the floor. "Meanwhile, Moss and Beaumont can help me with this one." We nodded and shifted closer towards Hollis. "Aiden, need a little help." Ralph said loudly as he went into the house, Moss and Beaumont not far behind with the wolf in their arms.

"Oh wow that looks nasty." Hollis crouched down slightly and looked at my face. I gave an unimpressed stare. "Makes you look more badass though." I huffed lightly at him. My eyes couldn't stop wondering. "He's in the living room with Eben and the pups." Emi laughed from beside me.

"I knew you two would hit it off." She mumbled under her breath. I nudged her with my head slightly. It would be something similar to shoving her. "Can you help him shift back?" Hollis was still looking over my wounds. He nodded lightly.

"Eben might be of more help though. Come round the back." We followed him slowly to the back garden, where Eben was sitting on the back steps with various things next to him. I hesitated before approaching him. He looked at me with sad eyes.

"Oh dear." He took some things out of the bag and started to add it to a cloth. I winced as it touched my face. "I'm afraid this is going to scar rather badly." I sunk to the ground, as though my shoulders were slumping.

"That's pretty useful placement though?" Emi offered with a small smile. "It's over a previous scar, so at least...there's more smooth skin?" Her voice was small but the attempt made me smile slightly.

"What happened?" Eben asked, as soon as the words left his mouth we were joined by Rhodes, Elowen, Tempest, Randall and Harlow. Harlow immediately moved towards my side. He gave Emi a hug and looked down at me with worry and fear in his eyes, I wanted to tell him it was alright but I couldn't.

"We were interrogated." Emi said glumly. "They didn't believe what we told them so he attacked us." She looked down to me for confirmation. I nodded with another wince as the cloth touched my face.

"Was it about what I could've told you?" Harlow had sadness and self-loathing dripping from his voice. I jerked my head back from the cloth to look at him. He was looking down, avoiding my gaze. I moved and circled him, forcing him to look at me. I looked up at him with a stern expression and tried to move so I was leaning on his legs, like a dog would. "You're adorable." He had hardly any emotion left in his voice. I reached up and licked his cheek, best I could anyway.

"He says, don't blame yourself." Emi chuckled fondly. "We told the truth, it's them who have issues with...no actually they just have issues." Harlow shook his head, he hadn't let it go but he seemed to feel a little bit better. I backed away slightly and turned back to Eben.

"Right, let's finish this up so you can turn back."
