Expect the Unexpected

You Scared Me.

Meredith's POV-

Until I heard footsteps from downstairs.

I got up quietly started walking towards arizonas bathroom door. I was scared she'd get mad at me, but I was scared about as to who would be downstairs. So I knocked on the bathroom door.

"Zona?" I whispered, but no reply. "Arizona?" I whispered a little louder but then again there was no response. "Arizona?" I said normally. I heard her footsteps and she opened the door. "What's up? Sorry I was washing my hands" she laughed softly. "I- I think there's someone downstairs but I-I could just be paranoid." I responded quietly. "Okay" she whispered, "Stay here I'll be right back" she said whilst closing her room door.

*Arizonas POV*
*Walking Down the Stairs*

Okay, I think Mer just heard something else. It couldn't have been- okay now I heard someone. There's definitely someone in my house, which was not okay. I hope it's not Derek, I don't feel like dealing with him right now. I heard noise from the kitchen so I quietly made my way towards the noise. I heard giggling. I walked into the kitchen and saw 2 girls.

"April, Addison, you scared the shit out of me. Announce yourselves" I said when I saw them and they jumped. "Sorry" they said in sync. "We wanted to see why you left so early today." addison said. "We wanted to make sure your okay" April added. "Haha guys im good." I responded.

"Oh guys I have someone here." I said and they looked confused. "Who? I don't see anyone" Addison replied. "She's upstairs." I said. April winked. "Oh we get it, we'll be back later" she added. "It's not like that." I said. "Okayyyy sureee. You just said she was upstairs." Addison said.

"Yeah she is but it's not like we are having sex" I said. "Then why is she upstairs??" April asked. "I thought she was asleep, anyways why are you guys here so late? oh right never mind" I said catching myself. "Who is she?" They asked. I heard footsteps.

"Don't say anything or make faces" I whispered to them. They nodded their heads. As soon as Meredith entered the room their jaws almost dropped to the floor. I gave them a look and they stopped. "Hey hon, it's okay.  it's just Addison and April" I explained to the young blonde. She walked over and made grabby hands for me to pick her up and I did. She put her head on my shoulder and played with my hair. 

"You still tired?" I asked and she nodded her head 'yes'. "Why don't you lay down in my room?" I asked her. she grabbed onto the back of my shirt and nodded her head 'no'. "Okay" I whispered. I sat on the barstool where the counter was and addison and april poured me a glass of wine. Soon after them talking about their days Mer had already fallen asleep.

"She's asleep so please try not to be so loud." I explained to them. "Your with Meredith Grey? Isn't she Derek's girlfriend??" April asked whispering. "Not anymore. Drop the Derek conversation." I said bitterly and she nodded her head. "but are you with her?" Addison asked. "I don't know- it's just complicated right now. I want to be but I don't think she's in the right mindset for that. So we'll continue to be how we are now until she's ready." I calmly explained.

"Oh" they quietly said. "I'm going to put her in my bed and we can talk. yeah?" I said and they nodded their heads. I walked upstairs and gently put meredith in my bed. I could tell her small figure was cold so I wrapped her in my blanket. I left my door opened a bit. I walked downstairs to hear the 2 girls in my kitchen laughing.

"What are you two laughing at?" I asked. "I don't know April saw some meme and showed it to me" Addison explained. I nodded my head.

*Time Passes*

Both girls are drunk at this point. Meredith is still asleep. It's about 11pm. I helped Addison and April up the stairs and into a guest room. As soon as they hit the pillow they were dead asleep. I silently walked towards my room to see an awake Meredith.

"Babes I thought you were sleeping." I said whilst walking towards her. She was sitting up on the bed. I sat next to her on the bed. She started to straddle my lap whilst making eye-contact. "What's up baby?" I said once she was settled.

"Okay hear me out?" she asked. "All ears, what's up?" I said. "Okay I know this isn't what you expected but I don't know I have this feeling when i'm with you. You make me happy and actually want to live. You make me want to try to eat. Make me want to try to live. You give me ugh you give me butterflies. I know you probably don't feel the same so- I just needed to get that off of my chest. You don't have to respond. I get it. Nobody really likes me, so just don't." she explained looking down and playing with her fingers. "No baby it's the exact same for me. I want this too. You make me happy, very happy. When your ready we can try this but I'm not going to rush you into anything. Don't talk bad about yourself either. it hurts. Your very beautiful if someone says otherwise they can talk to me." I said smiling. I lifted her chin up with my hand. "You my dear are perfect" I said. She leaned in and so did I.

*fireworks*

It was a slow but passionate kiss. It was probably the best kiss i've ever had. I want this for life.

"Arizona, I know this is fast, like really fast but, will you be my girlfriend?" she asked. I kissed her again I couldn't help it. "Yes I would love to be your girlfriend. But let's take it slow. yeah?" I said. and she nodded her head. "Let's go to sleep? I'm the morning we'll work everything out. yeah?" I asked. and she agreed. we laid down in my bed and she snuggled herself into me. I wrapped my arms around her tiny figure. She was dozing off to sleep.

"Good night my girlfriend" she whispered in my chest. "Good night baby" I responded. Then, at peace, we fell asleep.
