Melanie couldn't wait till her favorite part of the year arrived. She used to count down the days till it arrived. But something changed for her. She wasn't not happy about going to cousins. Though she also wasn't as happy as she used to be.
Her personality changed a lot over the year that they last saw her. Her body developed, her style changed. Her mental health took a road for disaster. All her friends ditched her because she didn't have money like them. So she changed herself, became somebody who she never thought she could be.
Her mom Laurel said it was just a phase and she would be back to her happy old self. But that Melanie was dead, she buried her a long time ago. Everyone else just wasn't ready to except it yet.
The only friend from school she had left was Summer. Summer was Melanie's other half, someone she could always count on. Someone who didn't care if she changed or acted like a bitch. Summer always cared.
"I'm gonna miss you" Summer whined, stretching her legs across Melanie's twin size bed.
"I'll be gone for two months and then I'll be back" Melanie reasoned. "and plus you'll visit for my birthday"
"Yeah" Summer sighed."I guess your right" Summer gently slapped her thighs before getting up and going through Melanie's closet of perfectly organized clothes.
"So....how about we start packing" She suggested, havinga hint of excitement behind her voice.
The two girls began packing Melanie's clothes for this summer. Even though Melanie's style consisted of her dark style clothing, she did make sure to pack a contrast of color just to mix it up a bit- and because summer insisted that she did it.
The two girls had finished they're final packing, making sure to give each other long hugs and a goodbye. The door of her bedroom slowly creaked open revealing Belly on the other side of the door.
"Come on were about to leave"Belly announced walking in to give Summer a hug. After they're hug Belly left the room shutting the door behind her.
As the door closed both girls let out a huff. "I'm really gonna miss you Mel"
"Trust me I am too" Melanie I watched as Summers frown suddenly turned into a big grin.
"What?" The shorter girl asked letting out a breathy laugh.
"You get to see Jeremiah" Summer wiggled her body in a reading way."and Belly gets to see Conrad" she added on, squealing in excitement.
