"Mom, I'm not wearing a hello kitty shirt" Melanie whined. Laurel saw that her daughter was upset about something, she took it as a sign to cheer her up.
Laurel insisted that she wore a hello kitty shirt for July fourth-which was tomorrow. Her mother would always put her in a hello kitty shirt for July fourth, when she was much younger. They're was no specific reason, it just became a tradition for the young girl. As years went on she didn't want to continue in it anymore, feeling to old for hello kitty.
Laurel of course was devastated by this, but she let it go.
But this year Laurel practically begged her daughter to wear one this year. It only made Melanies pounding head ache grow from the party that sadly happened last night.
"Please, just this one time" Laurel begged Melanie rolled her eyes, still no where near giving in.
"I love you, but that's extremely embarrassing" Melanie once again shot the idea down again.
Laurel huffed. "Fine I'll try and convince Belly"
Melanie smiled in amusement, knowing exactly how that would go. "Good luck with that mom"
Laurel left her daughters room, going to her youngest daughter, to possibly try and convince her.
Melanie's eyes skimmed over to the photo of Jeremiah and herself. Jeremiah had his hand draped around her shoulder, both of them smiling brightly. Melanie had a big dolphin wrapped in her arms. As it was now named 'dolphina'. Jeremiah had won it for her. He practically wasted all his tickets just to win it. She walked over to the photo that rested on her vanity, smiling fondly at the memory.
Her hand grazed over the photo. She had been so focused on the photo that she didn't realize someone was standing in the doorway.
Jeremiah watched as she smiled at the photo of the two. He even found himself smiling. The blonde boy knocked a couple times on the open door, making Melanie jump in her place.
She turned around, to face Jeremiah, who was stood in her doorway with a green smoothie in hand. Her heart sank in her chest.
His bright blue eyes held a sadness that could compel anybody into instantly being sad. Yet the boy still held a bright smile on his face. Trying his best to keep it there.
