Melanie was in the living room, finishing the wrapping of Belly's present. Melanie made sure to make her present very meaningful.
When the two were younger, they would always smell every perfume in bath and body works. There was a consistent perfume that was always at the store. It had grown to become a inside joke between the two.
The perfume was one of the very expensive ones. Around the range of 150 dollars.
Melanie knew it would seem ridiculous to other people, but she saw the look In Belly's eyes every time she smelled the perfume. She said it reminded her of cousins, and spending time with they're best friends.
It was very strange for a perfume to hold that sentimental value to them, but it did. One of the major reasons they never ended up leaving the store with the perfume, was because of how expensive it was. They weren't made of money like Susannah was. After all Susannah was the one who put most of the expenses into the beach house.
Melanie saved up a lot of her money for this perfume. It was very tempting not to spend her money. But she somehow managed. The light blue rapping paper wrapped nicely around the cardboard box the held the perfume.
Steven passed by her with his terribly wrapped present. "Steven what the hell is that?" She asked, pointing to the wrapping that covered the t-shirt that clearly sticked out of the wrapping paper.
"A present?" He spoke, not quite understanding her question.
"Yes it's a present dumbass." She rhetorically spoke.
"I mean. your really gonna give her a present wrapped like a 4 year old did it" Steven rolled his eyes.
"Well do you want to wrap it, since your such a professional?"
Melanie laughed, giving Steven a glare. "Nada. Im not about to let your present look better than mine" She sassed back.
The twos bickering got caught short when Belly walked into the kitchen.
"Morning everyone" Belly smiled, walking further into the room.
The attention went straight to Belly, chorusing strings of "hello's" and "happy birthday".
Melanie ran over to Belly with a smile, wrapping her on a tight hug. Belly hugged back, smiling to herself. Pulling away from each other, Melanie gave Belly the biggest grin. "Wow your 16 Belly. Finally catching up" Melanie pinched the girls cheeks. Belly swatted away her hands, still with a bright smile.
Belly had already been all dressed up this morning, supposedly why she took so long. "There's the birthday girl, looking like a vision in floral." Susannah pulled Belly into a long, tight hug. "Happy birthday" Susannah smiled at her, letting go of each other.
