I heard the door to the apartment close signaling Maya had left for the day. For some reason that small clicking sound of the door woke me up every morning when she left before me.
I rolled over to see Joe asleep peacefully on his side of the bed. Sometimes when we sleep, we end up drifting away from each other and clinging to one scrap of the sheets because we've created such a space between us. I decided to just get up too, there was no way I was gonna be able to go back to sleep.
I laid the sheets back down in my place and creeped out of the bedroom and getting some coffee started. I pulled out my phone and put Joseph, Joe and Sadie in a group chat.
Is everyone awake?

I laughed at the message and made my way back to the bedroom when my coffee was done. I closed the door behind me and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. When I was done, I crawled back into bed and turned the tv on with the lowest volume setting and watched something waiting for Joe to finally wake up. Probably 20 minutes later he took a deep breath and stretched his arms into the air groaning. I crawled over to him and placed a kiss on his shoulder. "Goodmorning." I said. "Goodmorning. How long have you been up?" He asked rolling over and wrapping an arm around me as I propped myself up on his chest. "Like 30 minutes maybe." I said. "You could've woken me up." He said. "It's okay, I know you like your beauty sleep. Also you're in a group chat with all of us that's been blowing up this morning so i'm suprised you didn't wake up from that." I said. He grabbed his phone and looked at it.

I walked to the bathroom and turned the light on, trying to get myself ready for the day. I turned my straightener on and did my makeup. "Joe, you should go get ready before everybody starts coming over." I said. He groaned, "I know, I just can't get up." He said. "Okay then, if you get caught here it's on you." I laughed. "At this point, i'm willing to risk it." He said.
A few minutes later I heard him get up from the bed and walk over to the bathroom door. He propped himself up, and looked at me through his glasses. "Alright, i'll be back in a few." He said. "Okay." I said. He walked over and gave me a quick kiss before he left. I smiled in the mirror as I put the finishing touches on my makeup.
