Allie Payton

Today I woke up extremely, violently hungover. The room was spinning when we got home from the party last night and I knew today was going to be a nightmare. My eyes opened when I felt the bed move. I turned around, groaning. "What time is it?" I asked. "Oh!Goodmorning." Joe said laughing. "Goodmorning." I said. "It's 9." He said. "I can't move. I feel like I've been hit by a bus." I said. "I bet so. You couldn't even form sentences when we got home last night." Joe said. "Where are you headed?" I asked. "Bathroom. I'll be back." He said.

I rolled back over and grabbed my phone. I looked at the time, and at all the notifications I had since we got home at 3 am. He got back into bed and I felt the bed dip down. His arms extended around my waist and pulled me closer to his warm body. "Happy birthday." He said. "Thank you." I said smiling at him. "I have a surprise for you." He said. "Really?" I asked. "Yep! But you have to get out of bed first to see it because we have a long day ahead." He said. I groaned, "Oh i'll get up for a surprise." I said. "I know you will." He said.

We brushed our teeth and got ourselves a little less disheveled from when we woke up, and my headache almost made me lose my sight. I gripped the sides of my head and closed my eyes. "I need Tylenol so bad oh my god." I said. "Here." Joe said shaking the bottle on the kitchen counter. "Thank you." I said, placing a kiss on his lips. I made myself some water while he went to get the "surprise." I took the medicine and sat myself down on the couch. "Okay close your eyes." He said. "They're closed." I said.

I felt him walk up in front of me and set something down on the table. "Open." He said. He sat down next to me and I reached for the big box that was on the table. I ripped the wrapping paper and opened up the box. I dug around through the tissue paper layer that was on top, and pulled out several vintage vinyls. I was a huge vinyl collector and my record player stand had absolutely no room for more, but that just means I need another one.

I smiled as I flipped through the different artists. "Fleetwood Mac, Cher, Elvis. I love them. Thank you so much." I said. I wrapped my arms around his neck placing another kiss on his lips as I looked at all the songs I was about to be blaring through the apartment. "There's another something at the very bottom." He said. "Joe. Too much. Way too much." I said. "Just open it." He said.

I reached down to the very bottom of the box and pulled out an even smaller box. Inside was a Dior Necklace I almost bought at the Dior store here, last summer. "No way, Joe. This was so expensive." I said. "You deserve it." He said. "I love it. Can you put it on me?" I asked. "Of course." He said. I turned around and pulled my hair up off my neck as he placed the necklace on my skin. He closed the clasp and the necklace fell into place. I looked down, "Thank you so much." I said. "Of course. I've literally had it saved since before we left for filming. It's been in my apartment in hiding." He said. "What were you going to do if I bought it before you could give it to me?" I asked, laughing. "You weren't going to. You looked at it so many times but never bought it because you always said it was too much. Gifts are supposed to be things you wouldn't spend the money on for yourself anyways." He said. I smiled. "Thank you seriously. This was so much." I said. "Of course." He said.

We laid on the couch watching some local news before we got dressed for the day. My hangover was slowly getting better but the headache was still raging on. "So what are we going to do today?" I asked. "I told you it was a surprise. You're just trying to get me to slip up and tell you." He said. "Damn it! You caught me." I said. I walked into the closet to try and figure out what to wear. "I just need to know what to wear." I said. "Anything you want. It's not like we're going hiking or anything." He said. "That's all I wanted to do today." I pouted. "I know that's a lie." He said laughing also.

We finally got dressed and just decided to start the day off shopping. We made our rounds through at least 3 thrift stores and then stopped into a couple more popular stores so I could pick out some new things for fall and winter.
