Chapter Fifty-One: One Hundred

Abby enters the room with her med-kit. As soon as the door closes, Ash and Bellamy stand up.

"We needed you here for more than my wrists," Bellamy states.

"You want me to help you escape?" Abby asks as she goes to bandage his wrists. 

"I saw your reaction to Octavia's voice," Ash states. "Please. We need to save our people."

Abby finishes before leaving. Ash and Bellamy look at each other, hoping they got through to her. After a bit, Abby enter once more and starts unlocking their cuffs. Ash smirks a bit, knowing Abby would've been reasonable.

"Murphy!" the doctor calls out, sounding in panic. The door flies open and Ash puts him in a headlock. Soon he passes out and she lets him fall to the floor with a thud. The three start running towards the exit.

"There's two levers that need to be pulled to open the door," Abby states. "You two go straight and I will get the other."

They nod their head, following orders. Soon the entrance becomes visible. Ash heads up the ladder with Bellamy just behind her. A gunshot goes off, causing them to stop. They both look to see Clarke at them.

"Clarke," Ash starts.

"No," she says, tears building in her eyes. "I can't let you open the door."

"Are you going to shoot me?" Ash asks. Clarke fires a warning shot.

"Why can't you get it?" she cries. "I'm trying to save humanity."

"By killing everyone else."

"By saving our people. They need to be here to run oxygen scrubbers and hydro-farms."

"When we pulled the lever in Mount Weather," Bellamy says, "when we pulled the trigger before, we knew what was on the other side. This time we don't."

Clarke looks conflicted. Soon she lowers her gun, nodding her head. Ash pushes the door open and her and Bellamy exit. Standing by the door is Octavia, Indra, Gaia, Echo, and all the other leaders of the various clans. Octavia smiles at the sight of Ash and Bellamy before turning to the other leaders.

"Welcome houm."

The others go to enter and Octavia hands Ash a knife. The same one she gave Roan. The pain starts once again, but she goes to repress it. Echo hands her a crown as well. Ash just now realized it had fallen off earlier. She grabs it as Echo backs up. Ash places it on her head before her and Bellamy lead the leaders down the stairs. Clarke watches, before joining them. The three from Arkadia head straight to the office. Soon, Marcus, Jaha, Abby, Indra, and Octavia join. 

"You need to select one hundred from each of the clans," Octavia tells Ash and the others. "Everyone but Azgeda and Arkadia have chosen. Bellamy and Ash have a guaranteed spot, so that means ninety-nine left for each one."

"Azgeda has already chosen," Ash states. "In case of Azgeda winning, Roan and I had plans."

"So that leave Azgeda."

"They will fight this," Jaha states. 

"We need to prioritize," Marcus points out. "Engineers. Doctors. People who we need first."

"Raven is alive," Abby chimes in. "We need her."

"Then I'll go get her," Bellamy offers.

"Is no one listening to me?" Jaha asks. 

"Yes!" Ash snaps at him. "You're lucky that there is as much room as there is after that stunt you pulled. So shut the fuck up and listen."

"Only one hundred of our people will live!"

"It's not like you didn't make this decision before. Or do you forget when you sent a hundred children to Earth to be lab rats. And then the fucking Culling. So now you will sit there and you will keep your mouth shut." She glances at Bellamy. "I will go with you."

"As will I," Clarke responds.

"No," Abby responds. 

"I will not leave Raven to die."

A debate starts, but Ash steps out. She finds a specific warrior. The young girl looks scared. 

"Have you seen Echo?" Ash asks her. The girl shakes her head.

"No. But she gave me this."

A piece of paper crumbled up. Ash unfolds it to see the list. She returns to the office and sets it in front of Octavia. 

"Azgeda's list," she states. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to help a friend."

She walks back out. Bellamy and the Griffins join. The four get into the elevator. Just before the doors close, Murphy and Emori join.

"What do you want?" Ash asks.

"To help," Murphy respond. "And maybe better our odds."

"It's a lottery,"' Abby states. "But I will make sure you're in the lottery."

"And Emori?"

"I will see what I can do."

The elevator comes to a stop and the five of them dress in hazmat suits; grabbing an extra one for Raven. Abby wishes them luck before heading downstairs. They quickly leave and pile into a truck. Bellamy and Clarke upfront while the others in the back. The truck starts going through the path towards the island. The world looks like it is covered in snow, though Ash knows it isn't. Murphy and Emori are talking about a possible future. The ride seems straight forward until they ram into something, and then crash. 

Red streaks and a body appear behind them. Ash slowly approaches the edge when men attack. She kick one in the face while another yanks her out of the truck. The others quickly go to fight them off, but it seems useless. There's too many of them with no options left. They are trying to get the suits. Soon arrows fly into each man's neck, killing them. Echo rides in, dismounting her horse. The radiation is already effecting her. 

"My queen," the spy says. "I was hoping the bunker on island will be sufficient for the next five years."

"We have a spare suit," Clarke tells her. "It can't help what has already happened, but can protect you longer."

Echo agrees and puts it on. That's when they realize they won't make it to the island in time. The group starts debating what to do next when Emori start coughing.

"Her suit must have been damaged," Ash states, going to check it. She finds the tear. "The lining between the helmet and the suit is torn."

"We don't have an extra suit," Bellamy states.

"Yes we do," Murphy snarls, going for Echo. Ash steps between, pushing him back.

"You will not touch her."

"Emori can use my suit," Clarke states.

"Clarke-"

"I have Nightblood."

"And so do I but it's untested."

"Well now is a good time to test it."

She takes off her suit and has Emori get dressed in it. Soon the radio goes.

"Monty," Clarke responds. "Where are you?"

"In the rover."

"I need you to pick us up."

Clarke starts talking to him as Echo looks at Ash.

"I was banished by King Roan."

"I figured."

"You did?"

"You would have been annoying me the moment the bunker was open if you weren't." She looks at the spy and smiles. "A queen protects her people. Even if they were banished."

"I don't think you know what banished means."

"Maybe. Or maybe I don't care."

Soon the rover pulls up. Harper and Monty hop out of the rover, grabbing a spare suit. One that was intended for Jasper. But he didn't make it. Clarke gets in it before everyone crams into the rover. They once again start the trip to the island.
