Dominic
Eleven years agoMy mother walked into the room, a solemn look on her face. It was way past my bedtime and I wasn't even supposed to be awake, especially with training in the morning.
"Dom." She sat at the edge of the bed and ran a hand down my exposed arm, squeezing once she got my hand in hers. "Your father wants to speak with you." She whispered and my body stiffened.
"Tell him you found me sleeping." I looked towards her and saw the tears spring in her eyes.
"It's the last night of the month.....he was going to come get you himself but I insisted on being the one to wake you up." I sat up quickly, fear present in my eyes. She touched my face softly before leaning in and placing a soft kiss on my cheek. "Show no emotion. Remember what I taught you."
"I don't want to do it." I pleaded and she pulled me close in a hug.
"I don't want you to do it either." She whispered.
"Mom.. mom, please do something. It hurts." A tear rolled down her cheek, then another and she pulled me even closer.
"I will..... I will do something." She held my head and my eyes snapped to the door as it was slammed open.
"Why are you taking so long?" My father stepped in before pausing, a slight grin on his face as we pulled away from each other. "What did I tell you about coddling the boy?" He made two quick steps across the room and grabbed my mother.
She cried out as the hold he had on her became tighter, then his hand connected with her cheek. I sprung out of bed pushing him. "NO." I hit him again and pulled my mother away.
I looked up at him, pure hatred in my eyes as I glared. "One day....one day one of us is going to kill you." I whispered and he hit me next.
"Is that so? Sounds like you're ready to be the man of this house then." He taunted me as he grabbed me and pushed me towards the door to which I stumbled to the floor. "Wanna be a man Dominic? Let me show you exactly what a man is supposed to do."
"NO, DON'T YOU DARE DO IT" My mother screamed at him. He ignored her as usual and gripped me by the collar of my Superman print night shirt.
"I'll deal with you later." He pointed to her before he dragged a struggling me out of the room and locked the door behind us to keep my mother from getting out.
"GET OFF. GET OFF. GET OFF." I slammed my fist on his arm over and over but his grip on me never faltered as he dragged me down the few halls and into his office.
He threw me to the floor once inside and I stared up at the four maids in the room, all definitely not dressed in a maids uniform. I had never seen clothes like that, if you could even call it that.
