Two days. Two motherfucking days since I've held my kitten in my arms. My arms twitch just thinking about it.
Who knew I'd be this miserable without my wife beside me. Being able to hold her against my chest. Talk to her tummy and tell our son and nugget to behave themselves.
As fun as being here in Nashville has been nothing feels the same. A part of my heart is still in LA waiting for me to come home. I keep a half smile on my face not wanting to let them or my girl down but without her here nothing feels right.
Before her, this would have been an epic adventure but now, without her, it's just an adventure. Nothing special. Nothing remarkable. Just time being lost and spent away from her and the milestones of our pregnancy.
We've been in constant contact just like she promised me but my heart aches a little more each time we FaceTime or call. Hearing her voice and seeing her face makes me homesick. It's both a pick me up and a put me down. Not that I'd tell Sky that. She's being going through the wringer with her emotions from the hormones and when I feel something she feels it twice as much.
When she called me yesterday during the shoot I knew she must have found the letter. It was earlier than we had agreed on a call but I wasn't going to let it go to voicemail. I called cut on the shoot and told them my wife was calling. Everyone knows who Sky is and that's she pregnant so they didn't say anything but I made sure that everyone in the room knew who my priority was and how much I love my wife.
The interns and some of the assistants had been giving me flirtatious looks since we'd started this morning. Not giving a shit that I'm married and my wife is expecting a baby. I'd made it clear or at least I'd thought I had that I wasn't interested, that I love my wife and that this is work. The younger interns maybe eighteen or nineteen were the ones who had trouble accepting that fact. Trying to get my attention or trying to get too close to me but it never worked.
After the call with Sky, I spoke to the manager of the shoot and asked if he could remove six members of his team. The conversation wasn't an easy one but it had to happen.
"Gavin" I call as I cross the room to the shoot manager. Watching the interns prance around me caused my temper to inch higher and higher.
"What's up?" He asks as I stop in front of his. Giving a point-ant look to the ditzy, disrespectful interns to either side of him.
"Leave us" he shouts, forcing the blondes to rush away.
"Look, Gavin. I know that this shoot is a huge deal for both of us but the level of disrespect that has been shown to not only me but my wife today is disgusting. I've heard incredible things about you and your team but from what I've experienced today- I say glancing around the room, pointing at the offending people "I think it's all for show. I'm in two minds to pull the plug and make an official release about how much of a shambles this experience has been." Gavin listens to me in horror as I talk his face a blanket of white as he processes my words.
"Bryan. I'm not sure what's happened but I can assure you I am a professional and all I want from this weekend is for us all to have a great time and turn out an incredible cover for our next magazine."
"If that was the case why have you been allowing your intern staff and your assistants to make me feel disrespected. They have no morals or ethics. They speak like school children and can't seem to accept no means no."
"They're fans. Surely you can understand what it's like when you're young and you meet one of your idols?" He scoffs, laughing awkwardly in an attempt to lighten the situation. My eyes darken and turn into a scowl.
"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise I was attending a meet and greet." I know sarcasm is never the answer but I need to release some of the anger boiling inside of me.
"No, of course. My apologies." Gavin stumbles trying to figure out what to do to stop this situation from being heated. "What can I do to make this a better environment?"
"I'd like the offending interns and assistants removed from the shoot. I'd also like warnings issued to the six interns for ethics. If this situation isn't fixed Gavin" I don't even have to finish Gavin interrupts me with his agreement before gathering up the offending people. He dismisses the other members of staff for a break before addressing the others for misconduct.
I stand beside him listening to how he handles the situation.
"I'm sure a lot of you especially the assistants will already know why I've pulled you aside. Here at Meteor, we hold ourselves to a higher standard. We take pride in making our celebrity guests feel welcomed, respected and part of our family. But it appears that hasn't been the case today. I understand that after being spoken to the assistants started to behave in a way more becoming of a member of Meteor which is why you will only be asked to leave the shoot. Gather up your belongings and be gone within ten minutes." The assistants bow their heads and mumble an apology to me before turning to gather their things. I watch them disperse from the group before glancing at the six interns. All of which are pale and looking scared. Seems they are scared of Gavin.
"As for you, we don't tolerate disrespectful behaviour to anyone. All of you are here to work to prove to your higher-ups that you are worth investing in. That your future is here at Meteor. But based on what I've witnessed, and what Bryan has explained to me I'm not confident in any of our futures. It shouldn't take for Bryan to come to me to get you guys to act professionally and treat him with respect."
"I'm sorry Gavin, Bryan" the brunette intern whispers hanging her head low. Her eyes scrunched shut.
"It's too late for that, Malissa. The bonus from this shoot is being revoked and you'll all be receiving a written warning from HR. I expect you all to reflect and change your behaviours before the next shoot. Gather up your shit and get out" he shouts at them pointing at the door.
It wasn't a fun conversation to witness nor start but it had to happen. The rest of the shoot was a success and we managed to get ahead of time. The jet was booked for departure at 9 pm tonight but I've been able to bring it forward to 6 pm.
I've forced everyone into a vow of silence as I want to surprise Sky. Tonight I will have her wrapped in my arms as she falls asleep.
A/N
It's Wednesday, I hope you have all had a fantastic start to your week and a great 'Hump Day' - Just in case you don't know the term hump day it's not something dirty it just means 'the midpoint of a typical work week'
I hope you enjoyed another chapter from the point of view of Bryan - I love writing from his perspective - but Sky will always be my girl. She holds a special place in my heart.
