Bruce Yamada x Reader !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I walked towards my next period with a gleaming smile on my face, you see, my next period I had with my crush and longtime best friend, Bruce Yamada. He was almost known for being eye candy at our school, girls drooled over him constantly and I was pretty much shit on for being his best friend as well as being a girl, people gave me a bad rep because obviously girls and boys can't be friends without it being romantic, I mean not saying that it isn't but it just gets so frustrating with some random girl comes up to me in the hallway and is so adamant on Bruce and I being a "power couple" or whatever.

I wouldn't ever admit it to anyone, but I may have gained a romantic attraction for him. I know, I know, cheesy as hell, right? But I just couldn't help it! He's so cute, I mean if you could see his smile, you'd fall head over heels for him too! It couldn't happen, though, I mean then the rumors would just get worse and I didn't want Bruce's reputation to be worse just because he was in a relationship with me of all people.

Anyways, once I finally made it to the classroom, I saw Bruce almost immediately, he was fiddling with a super colorful pen, while he was doing so, I made my way over to him before some random girl with really long hair jumped in front of me. "What are you doing by the Bruce Yamada?"
She asked, a look of irritation on her face as she looked at me. "Well, I was just going to sit in that empty seat, problem?"
I asked her, I knew the kind of person she was, I had dealt with people like her many times before and she wasn't going to stop me from sitting with Bruce. "Look girl, I don't know who you think you are, but you aren't hot shit so go sit somewhere else."
She said, pointing towards a random kid that looked like he was about to fall asleep. "Hey, do I get to have a say in this?"
While I was focused on this girl, I didn't notice that Bruce had slowly stopped messing with his pen and was now completely focused on us. "Of course!"
The girl quickly turned to look at Bruce, her facial expression changing almost immediately, making me chuckle, did she think he didn't see what was happening right in front of him just seconds prior? Either way, I kind of zoned out but Bruce handled it because the next thing I knew, he was ushering me over to sit next to him. I, obviously, quickly sat down, noticing the teacher stand up to begin the lesson.

"Do you understand what she's talking about?"
Bruce asked me, I turned my head slightly to look at him. "No, you don't?"
I asked him, he was quite bright so it was normally me asking him if he could help me with work. "I wasn't paying attention,"

He explains, looking slightly embarrassed. "Here, after your baseball game tonight, how about you meet me at mine and we'll hang out and hopefully figure this out?"
I asked him, trying my hardest to stay quiet throughout the lesson because I was not in the mood to be called out by a teacher. "Yeah, sounds good."
Bruce replied before turning back to the teacher.

The day honestly went by really fast, I mean so fast that it felt like as soon as I blinked Bruce was knocking on my door and my mom was welcoming him in with the biggest smile on her face. As soon as my mom called me down to meet my "guest" I gave him a huge hug and asked how the game went. "Oh, the usual, we won, but I was quite nervous once I noticed that I was going up against Finney Blake, you know him?"
He asked me, grinning. "Finney Blake?"
I asked, before humming in thought. "I think I've heard about him before, but I've never spoken to him."
I explained, looking up at Bruce. "His arm is mint!"
He exclaimed with a look of excitement in his eyes. "Wow, that's cool!"
I smiled, "Yeah! Anyways, are we just gonna stand here.."
He trailed off, but not in a rude way. "Nah, of course not, who do you think I am?"
I asked, sarcastically. He laughed before I directed him to my room. I went into the kitchen and spoke to my mom, telling her that Bruce would only be here for a couple hours and we would hang out in my room. She was fine with it, as she normally is, and I met Bruce in my room.

When I got there, I saw him looking around my room with wonder, he hadn't ever been inside my house, let alone my room, we always went to his place. "You like it?"
I asked him, making him turn to me with an embarrassed look on his face. "Yeah, it's cool!"

He replied, looking like he was doing something he shouldn't have. I laughed a little at his awkwardness. "Anyways, how've you been doing, we haven't really hung out like this in a while."
He asked me, I wasn't really sure how to respond. He was right, I had kind of been avoiding him the last couple of days because I wasn't really interested in being teased about him. "Oh, you know, the normal stuff.."
I said, shrugging. "What about you?"
I asked him, sitting down next to him on my bed. "Oh, regular stuff, regular stuff,"
He said, laughing awkwardly in an attempt to ease the tension. I nodded in understanding before we were engulfed in an awkward silence. "Why'd it get all awkward all of a sudden?"
I asked, laughing. I expected him to make a joke or to play along with it but he didn't, he just sort of sat there in silence. "Bruce?"
I said, confusion evident in my tone. "What's up?"
He asked, seemingly out of his trance from moments prior. "I was just wondering, are you feeling alright, you seem sort of quiet."
I explain, looking at him with a concerned look on my face. "Yeah I'm good, it's just that I like this girl and I don't really know how to tell her.."
He trailed off, making me look at him quizzically. I didn't know that Bruce had a crush, when did he begin liking her, do I know her? "Ooh! What's her name? Do I know her?"
I ask with a cheery tone despite the feeling of sadness eating at me. "Yeah, you know her."
He replied, "She's quite a great person, though many people don't like her. I've liked her for a while, actually, but I haven't said anything."
He explained, still not making eye contact with me. "Huh, this girl sounds a lot like me!"
I grinned, nudging him jokingly. "That's because it is."
He said, his voice shaky. "What?"
I asked him, shocked. "I like you, Y/N,"
He repeated, his cheeks a bright red. My face was hot and I knew I was turning more and more into a tomato by the second. "Is this a joke? Cause it's not funny."
I said, my eyebrows furrowed. "I'm being serious, why?"
He finally looked up at me, a confused look apparent on his face. "It's just, well, I like you too,"
I replied, embarrassed. "Really?"
He asked, his eyes brightening. "Yeah,"
I say, looking away.

Before I knew exactly what was happening, his arms wrapped around me, and I began smiling like mad. It wasn't some phony smile or anything, either it was a genuine, happy smile.
