Earlier the next morning.

Chiye woke up from the couch. She has been sleeping there ever since Kartein let her live in his home, and occasionally the man would drag her and throw her into the guest room to sleep.

The reason for this is because Chiye became too invested into learning about awakeners, and she pulled an all-nighter with Kartein. Both of them studied different yet similar information about each other just like study partners.

Unfortunately, Today is the day Chiye would return to Japan to report to her brother.

Finishing breakfast with Kartein, Chiye quickly took a nice shower and changed into a set of clothing that Kartein kindly bought for her - given that her uniform got torn because of the incident.

Chiye also borrowed some thin bandages from Kartein, wrapping it around her eyes and covering the mystic effect of her cursed technique.

"Leaving already?" Seeing Chiye walking down the stairs, Kartein put down his tea cup and looked calmly at Chiye.

Chiye smiled. Staying with Kartein for a certain time made her relax, unlike the days she spent with the higher-ups and her strict family. Chiye found Kartein's company enjoyable, thus traces of emotions could be seen from her face from time to time compared to the first time she came here.

She would even smile. Kartein considers this a leap and improvement of some sort.

"Yes. I will return back once I'm done with my business over there."

"You really don't need me to arrange a flight for you?" Kartein curiously asked, "How are you planning on going back to Japan?"

Chiye tilted her head, "I can use teleportation using my curse technique."

'She can even do that?!' Kartein was startled but didn't comment. He still hasn't fully understood this curse technique and curse energy that Chiye showed to him, and there are more things that Chiye hasn't properly explained.

"So you could directly go from here to Japan? With how weak you look like a week ago, you don't seem to have enough energy for such a long distance teleportation." Kartein said bluntly.

"No. There won't be a problem. Although your home is curse spirit-free, the cursed energy is abundant. My power and health has already been restored back to normal." Chiye patiently explained as she didn't have to leave in a hurry because of her curse technique teleportation.

'That is also a reason why I wanna come back here. I've been wandering around Mr.Kartein's home, but there's not even a single curse spirit around like this place is a purified land. The most alarming about this is that, the cursed energy flowing in this place is abundant that it only took half a day to restore my health. This isn't normal.' Chiye hid her thoughts away and quickly bid goodbye to Kartein after seeing that he does have any further questions.

Instead of directly teleporting herself to Japan, Chiye used her cursed technique to deliver herself at the top of a building. She pulled off the blindfolds on her eyes, her silvery-blue eyes showed coldness as she scanned the whole area using her curse technique 'Limitless' to probe the whole city.

Chiye frowned and clicked her tongue once she was done scanning the area. 'What's going on? It's not only in Mr.Kartein's home... but the whole city doesn't seem to have any curse spirits!'

Knowing how major the things amiss in here are, Chiye no longer hesitated and drew a teleportation circle to teleport herself to Japan. The bloody red runes appeared as Chiye formed a circle, and then she placed her hands together, her fingers filling the gap between each other before she activated her cursed energy after closing the gap with both her palms.

Chiye was teleported...at the top of a building, again.

Her eyes couldn't help but widened. 'That can't be? That should have teleported me back to the Academy.'

For once, Chiye fell into dazed for quite some time before she quickly became alert. She made sure nothing was wrong with her body and the flow of her curse energy before drawing the teleportation runes once again.

The results were the same. Once activated, Chiye was still in the building she was in.

'This is...' Chiye no longer tried the teleportation technique after gaining the same results twice.

She jumped down from the building and mixed in with the crowd.

'This is definitely Tokyo. So why did the teleportation fail?' Chiye wondered as she walked through the city of Tokyo, her blindfold once again placed back on to cover her eyes. 'If only I had my phone.'

Chiye - despite being a genius and more powerful than her brother compared to curse technique, actually has a major flaw.

Electronics and common knowledge.

She doesn't know how to operate a phone and only knows how to call someone using the device, and she doesn't know how to ride a train all by herself without her brother or a guide.

That's why - she can't use any other phone. Her phone disappeared to who knows where and Chiye who doesn't use it often forgot its existence, only remembering it now.

'Tsk, it's not important. At least I arrived in Tokyo.' Chiye thought, feeling that she'll take time to learn when she had the time.

•••

It didn't take that long for Chiye to arrive in the outskirts of Tokyo.

However, instead of the well-maintained school that is surrounded by a protective barrier, Chiye saw nothing but a forest.

"What?" Chiye whispered in confusion. She ran up the mountain and spread her curse technique to quickly scan the area but found nothing.

'What is going on? Where is...what happened to the school?'

Chiye remained standing in the middle of the forest, in the middle of what should have been the property of their Jujutsu Sorcerer Academy that is nowhere to be seen.

It was still early in the morning, but Chiye felt like she fell into the bottom of the abyss.

It was silent. The wind suddenly blew, causing Chiye's hair to become a bit disarrayed. But the girls paid it no mind. Her shoulders fell, and for the first time, Chiye who always stood tall and mighty alongside his brother, suddenly looked pitiful and lonely as she stood in the shadow cast by the forest.

For the very first time, Chiye felt an indescribable feeling of coldness in her chest, like someone is gripping her lungs and making it hard for her to breathe.

"Satoru...?" Chiye called out weakly. Despite the lack of tears on her eyes, her voice trembled.
