“This is Korea?” Chiye sat at a top of a building, with Kartein standing beside her. She stared at the city filled with lights. Compared to the sight of curses filling the air and dancing around, she can fully admire the whole city at it's brightest time. “Seems peaceful enough.”
Kartein raised an eyebrow. Not knowing that Chiye was talking about the lack of curses in her view, he snorted. “Night was never a peaceful time. This is always a great time for doing evil deeds.”
“If I didn't know better I would've thought we came here to commit a sinful crime.” Chiye muttered which earned her a light hit at the back of her head.
Kartein prayed inside his heart. Can't you give back the emotionless Chiye?! This one seemed to be turning into something hard to deal with!
Placing a hand inside his pocket, Kartein sigh. Chiye and him arrived a bit too early, and Kartein learned one thing.
Chiye seemed fascinated in many things.
“Never seen a city at it's night time?” Kartein asked, not expecting Chiye to confirm his thoughts.
To his surprise, Chiye nodded her head. “When I was a child, I was not allowed to leave our house. I would only be let out whenever my presence is required somewhere.”
“....”
Seeing Kartein's silence, Chiye look up and saw Kartein staring at her with complicated eyes. The man showed clear confusion that made Chiye feel a bit conscious.
She pursed her lips and continued, “Of course, I've been out before. It's just that...”
It's just that it's only when her older brother would sneak her out or whenever there's a mission given to her.
But she can't say that for some reason. Because that would mean admitting her unfamiliarity with the world, and further exposing the darkness of her family. She could say about how her family excluded her from society because none of the Jujutsu Sorcerers would feel that there's something wrong. But she completely forgot that Kartein is not a Jujutsu Sorcerer, but an awakened!
