Affection

My dream finally came true. I was dating Maki Harukawa. I didn't even know it was my dream to be with her, but hey. I got the girl.

After all the stories she told me about the clan I couldn't help but feel bad for Maki. Her whole life has been centered around killing, killing, and repeat. An endless cycle really, but thankfully I was able to break that routine. Now it was my turn to repay her for all of her sacrifices. I had to give her the childhood she deserved after all of these years.

To start off I made breakfast for Maki. She confessed that she would enjoy it if she didn't have to make her own breakfast for at least one day. When she was younger she didn't have a mother that would prepare her breakfast, and she never received the love she deserved.

When she woke up and noticed all of the food on the table she was delighted. Maki wasn't really much of a touchy person, but she kissed you on the cheek as she took a seat beside you at the table.

"Pancakes with maple syrup... My favorite. How did you know that Y/N?" Maki asked me, and it was simple.

"Well for one I somehow always have maple syrup laying around, but I remember you telling me how maple syrup was your favorite kind of syrup. Come on Maki you know that if I fell in love with you I wouldn't fall in love with every word that came out of your mouth..." I stated, and to be honest, that sounded very corny, but Maki understood what I really meant.

"W-wow thanks... You are so sweet." Maki replied to me while she was fiddling with her twin tails obviously bashful of how much I knew about her already.

If she was already very flustered about the pancakes the rest of the day was going to be a breeze.

"Maki what if I told you I had a fun day planned for the two of us!"

"I mean... What do you have in store for us?"

"Maki it wouldn't be a surprise if I said what the surprise was..." I responded, and Maki went back to fiddling with her hair again.

And that day was amazing. I could tell Maki had a good time, and I hoped that every day would be like that.

In the morning we went to the museum of modern art on the south side of the city. Me and Maki enjoyed taking a look into the modern art scene, and we even chatted about painting something ourselves...

"Y/N what if we tried to paint together? I mean when I lived in the orphanage before the clan found me I always painted with the little kids..."

"Maki fingerprinting isn't real art, but if you want to actually paint something with me using actual brushes I would be up to it." I crowed, and Maki rolled her eyes with a faint smile on her face.

"You idiot... I was joking. Whenever I had free time to myself I liked to paint the birds in the nest outside the window. My caretakers would always compliment my art, and maybe if I lived a normal life I would be a world famous painter." Maki affirmed.

"I know you would Maki... Ah, I love you so much..."

We left the museum around one o'clock, and our next destination was the medieval fair outside of town. I swear to this day I can't remember what it was called, but maybe your mother remembers.

Anyway, we had an amazing time at the festival, and what made it even better was the fact that we came home with a handful of prizes.

Maki excelled in all of the games they had at the fair. From the ax throwing, that one game with the big stuffy hammer, and how she dominated everyone in archery.

Jeez... I can still recall that day like it only happened yesterday.

"Maki... There is no way that you are going to hit the center of that target three times in a row. You're just wasting money!"

One.

"Oh, wow! You actually hit the target... A bullseye, but I doubt you can do it two times in a row!"

Two.

"Erm- Maki?"

Three.

She hit all three arrows square in the center. The man operating the archery station forbid her to play again before she broke all the arrows!

That night to finish things off I took Maki to the boardwalk, and we talked and watched the sea for hours. I bought us dinner and by the look on Maki's face, she enjoyed it.

To end the night we went onto the Ferris wheel, and that night is where we had our first real kiss.

To this day we consider this our first real kiss. The time I kissed her after she saved me was pure shock while this one felt earned.

When we got back to the apartment we were so worn out, but I knew that I gave Maki the fun she deserved after so many years. She was my everything and I was only going to give her the best, and nothing but the best life could give her. I promised myself that, and Maki that, and I eventually promised our own kids that one day too. I thanked every single person that ever lived to make history give me this moment, and I thanked every star in the entire universe for bearing witness to our love.

But at the end of the day, I could only thank God for creating her and giving me the chance to be with her. Until the end of my days, I will always love Maki.
