I shut my eyes and slumped on the bed. I just finished studying the last two topics on our Economics scheme.
"You won't believe it girlll!" I heard as soon as the door opened. I turned to see a jumpy Nana and a smiling Muna making themselves comfortable in my room.
"What happened? This one you barged into my room like this." I asked exhausted from too much reading.
"MY BOYFRIEND IS COMING TO LAGOS!." She announced jumping and Muna chuckled while I stared at her in confusion.
"You mean Amman is coming here? To see you?" I asked incredulously. Amman was a student of Harvard University. According to Nana, he was extremely smart.
"Of course. Who else would he come to see?. He's arriving tomorrow and he told me today. He said he wanted it to be a surprise but he also needs me to pick him up at the airport cause he doesn't know his way around here. I'm even surprised at this point."
"You should calm down." I told her.
"I should. I should but I fucking can't. I've missed that big head. He left Ghana for Harvard and we were in a long distance relationship and I also had to leave for Nigeria which made everything worse. I haven't seen my boyfriend for a year and a half because of his busy school schedule." She was crying already. Muna rushed to her side and embraced her.
"Oh c'mon. Don't cry. He's coming tomorrow and you'll get to see him. We should be talking about your appearance when he sees you. He shouldn't be able to take his eyes off you." I told them and she wiped her tears immediately.
"You're right. I should look perfect for him. I don't even know what to wear. I should go buy a new dress."
"No, you're not buying a new dress. You have more than enough already." Muna said and I could only concur with her. Nana had way too much dresses at her disposal.
"Okay so what should I do? He'd be here by 1pm latest tomorrow."
"Okay so...?"
"Yeah I got it. I don't think I'd be able to make it to your house before 1. Y'know how strict my father is. So how about we FaceTime. You'll show us the dresses and we'll help you pick." Nana jumped on Muna kissing her allover and I chuckled.
"That's a wonderful idea. I'm going to go home and sort the prospective dresses. I love you both." That's how she ran away from my room.
"I'll follow her before she gets hit by a bus with this level of excitement." I smiled and she left running as well.
This two girls were the only sane things keeping me. If not for them........
"Small madam. Your mom is back." and my heart went into a frenzy. I quickly jumped from the bed to the mirror. I looked okay so far. I ran downstairs and I bumped into-
This cologne
It belonged to my mother. I couldn't process the whole thing before a slap went across my face.
She stared at me hard before continuing her journey to her room. Tears stung my eye and they fell. She slapped me just because I mistakenly bumped into her.
