This has to be a fucking joke.
The school term had ended quite early because of the sad events that had occurred. This holiday was going to be the worst.
Christmas is always the worst.
Stupid holiday.
I got called to my father's office earlier today, which is why I'm seated on this weird sofa staring down at my neat fingernails.
He cleared his throat.
Finally he's going to say something. I've been here for the past ten minutes and he hasn't as much as uttered a word.
Let whatever he's got to say be worth it. I'm just counting in my head because I'm going to bolt any moment from now.
"How are you, my son?" I scoffed.
"You lost the right to call me that years ago. Say whatever thing you've got to say. This place is suffocating enough."
"You don't get to speak to me in that manner. I AM YOUR FATHER!." He yelled before calming a bit. Not like I give a flying fuck.
"Why am I here, father?" I said in the coldest way possible.
"You'll always be this way anyways. I called you here, not because I need your permission or whatever. It's only right you know."
I scoffed because he's never had my interest in mind. He always does things his own way but I listened in rapt attention.
"Majeed is coming home."
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six..Seven..Eight..Nine...
Ten.
That's the duration of the silence that ensued. No one said anything. No single sound was made.
We just stared ourselves in the eye, daring the other to look away.
"He has received his due punishment and would be brought back home. He needs a home. He needs his family." Tears were brimming in my eye threatening to fall.
I refused to let him see my tears.
"What family exactly? Due punishment?" I laughed dryly.
"Yes. He has received punishment for his crime."
"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK! That motherfucker destroyed my family. He killed my brother. Your son. D'you even remember him?"
