"I don't have any tattoos."
"Why not?"
"Doesn't really seem like me."
"You seem like the kind of person to get a warning label tattooed on her forearm. Like, I could picture a girl waking up in your arms like 'Shit, she wants me to leave now. Jenna's bad news.' I don't know. You seem like the bad type."
Jenna looked at me. "You think I'm bad news?"
"No, I think you're eccentric," I corrected. "The good eccentric. Like Luna Lovegood eccentric."
She smiled. "Luna Lovegood?"
"You know...Harry Potter. She's a Ravenclaw. Her dad writes the Quibbler..."
Now she was giggling at me. Her laugh was honestly one of the cutest things I'd ever heard in my entire life. "You little Potterhead."
"Proud to be."
"Good. Be eccentric." We smiled at each other before Jenna pointed to an area against the wall. "One of the best tricep workouts: hanging dips."
What...
"What's that?" I asked. I felt stupid.
Jenna just smiled. "I'll show you."
Definitely not complaining...
After setting her water and towel on the floor, Jenna removed her sweatshirt and grabbed the two handles, lifting herself into the air. She crossed her legs behind her and looked back at me.
"Come over here." I walked over to where she was, watching intently. "So, these are called 'hanging dips.' It's not just a great tricep exercise, it's a really great exercise for your shoulder, core, and balance. What you'll do is push yourself into the air..." She lifted herself up entirely, so that her body was in a straight line. "...then lower yourself back down very slowly until your arms are at a ninety degree angle, like this..." She took in a breath, breathing it out as she lowered herself down, her arm muscles flexing as they bent, and then she jumped down.
"Give it a shot," she said. "We'll do more exercises to strengthen your arms a bit later, but I want you to get a feel for what you should be doing."
I nodded and slowly unzipped my sweatshirt. I definitely wasn't entirely confident about my body, so I was just wearing an oversized t-shirt and basketball shorts. So I removed my jacket and grabbed the two handles, freezing when I felt Jenna's hands on my sides.
"Don't panic," she said with a cute laugh. "I'm just making sure you don't get hurt."
I pushed up slowly, feeling myself lift into the air. Jenna remained behind me, hovering close to me, and I crossed my legs as she'd done.
"Kind of cool, isn't it?" she asked. I giggled like an idiot and slowly began to bend my arms, letting my body lower closer to Jenna, who moved to the side and placed one hand on my stomach and the other on my shoulders. "Now, when you're doing this, you should feel your stomach muscles tighten a little, and especially your shoulders back here, also known as..."
"Triceps," I said with a laugh.
"Wonder how you guessed that."
"Telepathy."
"Right, forgot."
I smiled and pushed up again. I liked the way Jenna's hands felt on my body. It made me kind of nervous, but a good nervous. Even if she did have a girlfriend, I definitely didn't, and it wasn't like we were doing anything bad. Just working out. Nothing wrong with that.
