A/N: this chapter is partially a bit of filler but it's to build up the character archives, there should be a couple of more fillers and then the real drama will commence soon
After spending approximately two hours with her personal trainer Clary stood in the shower for a good forty minutes. The warm water soothed her aching bones and frankly she couldn't muster the energy to leave its comfort. Clary loved to take out her frustrations during her personal training sessions. It wasn't about exercise, or keeping in shape, her trainer would sometimes ask if she was training for the hunger games to which she would laugh. Clary was training to protect herself, something her mind had created as a sort of coping mechanism. She wanted to be prepared that if she was ever in danger she could protect herself and her loved ones this time round. The constant anxiety that somebody would arrive looking for her dad and cause harm to her or Katie would never disappear.
When Clary was younger she had a therapist and it was her suggestion that she learned to defend herself to console her anxieties in the unlikely hood she would face a danger she'd have to ward off. Clary sighed deeply. She wondered why Katie had not arrived home considering it was verging on ten o'clock.
She stepped out of the shower and wrapped a soft pink towel around her body. She changed into shorts and a tank top and began to braid her wet hair. She hated to use a hair dryer during the summer months.
She looked at her phone to see zero notifications. That was never a good feeling. She started to think about the previous night and the shooting. Maybe she should cut off ties with Namjoon, she couldn't face anymore hurt or destruction in her life.
Clary jumped with surprise as her bedroom door flew open. "HE ASKED ME OUT!" Katie yelled.
"WHAT?" Clary shouted, jumping up and down with her friend.
"We went out for dinner right?" Katie was gasping for air from running upstairs to their apartment. "And he told me how amazing and gorgeous I am and then asked me to be his girlfriend!"
Clary was shocked. "THAT'S AMAZING KATIE!"
"AND WE KISSED!" Katie squealed.
"YOU DID?"
"more than once!" Katie's look grew mischievous. "I know it's a bit soon but oh god, he's perfect."
Clary was grinning, she loved when Katie was happy, it brought her happiness too. She was slightly worried in the back of her mind about the whole drug scandal especially if Katie was officially going out with Taehyung. Clary decided she'd not ruin her friends happiness just yet. There couldn't be too much harm if she simply just delayed telling Katie for a little while.
"I'm so glad for you! You are most definitely the cutest couple!" Clary smiled.
Katie nodded. "I feel like we just click so easily." Her smile was consistent to the point she was glowing. "Ah, I feel like I am living the dream."
Clary smiled, "Good, you deserve to live the dream."
Katie nodded, "I forgot uh to ask, do you wanna talk about yesterday yet?" She scratched her head.
Clary shook her head.
"I understand I just want you to know obviously that If you want to talk about it then you can."
"I don't want to talk about it. But you should be careful with Taehyung because of uh, yesterday." Clary said.
Katie furrowed her eyebrows. "Of course! I'll be extra assertive. Anyways I have homework I've long neglected." Katie stepped toward the bedroom door. "Love you."
"I love you too." Clary mumbled as her friend left the room with her glowing smile.
She slumped onto her bed. Clary wished that she could unlearn the information she had gathered today. Perhaps she should stop looking and then she wouldn't find anything bad about them... but that wouldn't necessarily stop anything bad from being there.
