The panic was beginning to settle in and overcome the adrenaline which allowed Clary to run for such a long period of time. She had never ran as fast as this in her life in fact, she hadn't been aware she was even capable of running at such a fast pace for a long period of time.
It had yet to cross her mind that it was Friday afternoon and therefore there would be little if not nobody left at school because extra curricular activities and clubs did not run on Fridays. Clary was too busy trying to focus her mind into the fact that if she could get to the school there ought to be another person and if the guys appeared well, she was certain they wouldn't try anything in front of another witness. Surely Clary had the power in the situation, she could tell anyone about what she had witnessed. She shook her head. She had to get to the school, contact Katie, and then get on the train, then go to the police office near home.
Clary willed her legs to go a little faster, push herself a little further. Breathing did not matter. She couldn't breathe to begin with therefore her chest was already tight and the running wasn't making it any better nor worse. Come on Clary just a little further. She pushed herself. Promised that she wouldn't stop to catch her breath because she couldn't afford to pause. They probably had a car. They would get to the school before her. She knew they ought to know that's where she would head. She had to warn Katie, she had to ensure Katie would be safe.
Clary exhaled and encouraged herself to run even faster. Her legs shouldn't be capable of moving at the speed they were going at but it was her only hope of survival. Clary could see the building of the school come into her eyeshot. The familiar building inspired her to keep going. As the car park came into sight she felt like the world was on her shoulders. It was empty. The car park was empty. Clary sprinted toward the library. She hadn't noticed that it had now grown fully dark. Luckily the school area was well lit.
Clary opened the door to the main entrance. It opened with a loud squeak that she barely heard for she was panting heavily. She didn't even have any water to quench her thirst. It didn't matter. She was focused. More determined than ever. She looked at the empty corridor with anxiety. Panic was beginning to overcome her ambition. She bit it down. She knew she was fucked either way by now. She knew it was a race against the clock, warn Katie, go to the police.
Clary ran through the corridors, the lights turned on automatically with her presence as she moved further down the hall. Clary spotted the back door to the library was thankfully still unlocked. She opened the door not caring how loudly it creaked. She wanted it to be loud. Clary stepped one foot into the library, she was still breathing considerably heavily. "Hello?" She called out. "Is anyone here?" She raised her voice which filled the empty room. There was no response. The lights turned on with her presence meaning they had been off when she opened the door due to lack of movement. "Fuck."
Clary quickly sat down at one of the computers. She turned it on willing it to go faster. The computer turned on pretty quickly. Clary logged into her school account quickly. The battering of her fingers off the keyboard echoed throughout the silent room. She logged into her Facebook messenger account and clicked on Katie's profile. Clary began to type out a warning message when the browser closed on itself. "What?" She mumbled. She clicked on the icon again but it wouldn't open.
Clary watched the screen in front of her it flashed blank for a second and then when it came back on it was the home screen of the computers which were in the schools reception. Clary tried to move the mouse but it would not obey her. The little arrow clicked on Clary's student profile the one that only staff had access too. She tried to take control of the mouse desperately but had no choice but to watch it click onto her details. Her eyes widened in shock as it clicked on a button on the bottom left corner of the screen, 'drop out'.
