While (Y/n) finished tossing the few things she had inside her bag she had an inner battle between two little versions of herself. One didn't want to leave yet, not like that at least. The other one, proud like she normally wasn't, wanted to leave like Kakashi said.

"Are you sure it's fine if we go?" she asked when she heard Kakashi entering the room. He closed the door behind him.

"It is. Soo-Yun is sending a messenger to their leader. It doesn't make sense for Suna to attack now. Each and every one of their operations has been spoiled and they don't have inner intel anymore," he explained. She sat next to her backpack, looking at him without understanding what he exactly meant "In other words, if they attack they'll most likely lose. Which means, they probably just want to start conversations with Soo-Yun to hopefully reach an agreement" (Y/n)'s lips made a small 'o' and she nodded, finally understanding "So if things go well, we won't be needed anymore. And if worst comes to worst, we will be back safely" (Y/n) pursed her lips together but continued tossing stuff into her bag "What is it?" he asked, noticing that (Y/n) seemed off. She pouted and stopped again.

"It's just..." she said "I like it here" she admitted. She hadn't said anything particularly wrong, but still, something bad started to grow in his chest "Don't get me wrong, I want to go back to Konoha. But I... I don't know; I guess I'll miss this, Soo-Yun, ..." she added, letting her body fall backward onto the bed. The feeling in Kakashi's chest grew more, aching the more it did.

"Have you forgiven him?" he asked her, hoping she hadn't. He knew it was unfair that she was mad with Soo-Yun when he acted like that to protect her. But he couldn't help but dislike him. To Kakashi, the more distant she was with Soo-Yun the better.

"I'm still bothered. But I understand why he did it" Kakashi didn't say anything after that. He had too many emotions right now and he preferred not to fuck up, so he remained silent. (Y/n) sighed after a little while and sat up, staring at him "Can't we see him before we leave, at least?" she asked. Kakashi's brow twitched, and he swore his lip must have too. He once again had to bite his lip to prevent himself from saying something he would regret.

"He's busy, it's best if we don't bother him. And I want to reach the Land of Fire before it gets dark," he was straightforward. (Y/n) pouted again, now looking really disheartened.

"I... really don't want to," she said with another sigh, letting her body fall backward again.

"(Y/n)..." he started, not wanting to argue with her.

"I know, I know... But I don't want to..." she sighed, perhaps she was too tired and lazy to start the trip back to Konoha. Perhaps she was getting used to the palace. Anyway, Kakashi's chest tightened, feeling bad both because he didn't know what to say or do to comfort her, and because he couldn't help but feel as if this had something to do with Soo-Yun.

"Just... don't take too long," he said quickly before he left the room.

(Y/n) sighed once more, knowing that it wasn't like Kakashi to answer like that. Or maybe, it was exactly like Kakashi to answer like that and she had just got used to him treating her differently, better. She knew she deserved it though, she was being annoying, but she didn't want to leave without saying goodbye to Soo-Yun.

But as it usually was with her, things weren't as she'd like and so she ended up packing the rest of her things and leaving the room. Once in the hallway, she found Kakashi leaning against a wall with both arms crossed. It was surprising not to see him reading in his free time. Instead, he was now with his eyes lost in the marble of the floor, seemingly deep in thought.

"I'm done," (Y/n) said with an empty voice. Kakashi's eyes finally snapped out of the floor, just like he snapped out of his thoughts. And then he looked at her, frowning with heavy eyes. He didn't say anything and started walking, leading the way out.

"The other jonin will go back in a few days, so it will be just the two of us," Kakashi tried, hating the weird silence that had formed between them. She didn't answer, and she barely nodded. It only made his chest feel heavier "We can take our time to get back so you won't get hurt again, or get too tired," he added. But still no answer, just a clearer nod.

"Are you like this because you couldn't say goodbye to Soo-Yun?" Kakashi couldn't help but ask as soon as they left the palace.
