(Y/n)'s POV:

Days passed slower than normal, and now that I think about it, they had already been passing faster than they used to. Maybe it was thanks to the fact that I seemed to have finally faced life head-on, that I seemed to finally manage to be on the right path of things. I had made an unexpected friend, I had managed to land a part-time job that I didn't hate at all, and I was recommended for a second part-time that might just be what I needed to have enough money to live in my shitty apartment completely by myself.

That's right, the Yamanaka had recommended me to other few small businesses of friends they had. It's true that in the end, only one accepted me, and that it wasn't the choice of job I would have chosen. But money was money, and after a few days, I realized it wasn't all that bad. Although honestly, if it wasn't completely hell it was thanks to my coworker: Retha.

She was older than me, in her early twenties, and she was gorgeous. She had dark skin and even darker freckles. Her eyes were big and lively, just like her smile. And she had her hair tied in three buns. But it wasn't her beauty that attracted me and almost every person that entered our workplace. It was her strength and open personality, her closeness to everybody. She had just quickly become a person I looked up to, and if it weren't for her I probably wouldn't have survived more than a day at the bar.

Yes, my second job was being a bartender. Or due to my inexperience, it was being Retha's helper and waitress. From the first day I joined, Retha had treated me with kindness and patience, she had taught me the ways of working a night shift at a bar. How to treat people and the secrets of making them spend more and more money. And it was in fact thanks to her company that I barely noticed how much time had passed since I last saw Kakashi.

But things changed when I worked my morning job with flowers. Every day my head would jerk up at the sound of the doorbell, hoping to see him entering the shop as that would mean he had come back from his mission. But he never did, and the more days and weeks passed, the more worried I became. I was aware he said it would be a week, and I was aware of his reputation as a genius ninja meaning I needn't worry about him. But being an Anbu was dangerous, and I wouldn't want anything bad happening to him, not after starting to get acquainted with him.

I kept thinking about this as I cleaned one of the tables at the bar that just got empty. I continued to rub the wet rug over the sticky table that emanated a pungent smell of alcohol. Even if I was becoming used to it, it didn't mean it ceased to be unpleasant.

"Hey, chick!" a husky and high male voice yelled. I looked over my shoulder, knowing that this was the usual way to refer to either Retha or me "Bring another round, on me!" he said to me.

"Coming!" I answered loudly for them to hear over the loud chatter of the rest of the people.

I threw the rug over my shoulder and went to the bar to prepare another round of beers. And while I did that I took a glance around the place so that I took notice of any of the other possible table needs, but mostly because the time it took for the machine to fully fill a glass of beer was boringly long. I caught a glimpse of Retha, chatting with a few men on the bar as she served them more drinks while laughing and listening to whatever they were talking her ear off. I kept looking around and realized how many different people frequented the bar. There were both women and men, young and old, ninja and not. Some of them even felt familiar to me, although I couldn't quite pick up from where.

"Hey girl, you look familiar" the man I was serving the fourth round of beers commented with a funny smile as I gave each one of them their respective drink. And it was at that moment I remembered his and his friend's face.
