~Jun Chai's POV~
I was sitting on the couch in the recording studio, Jinnie beside me. Axel and Daiyu were currently inside recording their song, while AJ and Yating were sitting on the other side of Jinnie.
"Hey, Jun Chai, are you alright?" Jinnie suddenly asked me. "We're next so I want you to be as ready as possible!"
She used a cute tone to her voice but all I could do was nod.
"Okay, you're really upset." Jinnie said, growing serious. She knew I was upset because I would always play with her when she was being playful. "What's wrong?"
I looked at her to see a pouty look on her face. That's when I figured she's the person I could talk to about what was upsetting me.
"Why did you make these specific songs for the album?" I asked her.
"You mean the duets and solos?" She asked to clarify.
I nodded. She looked forward as she thought about it. "There wasn't space on the album for all of us to have solos, but not enough songs picked out for just duets."
"Hmm." I was left in my thoughts. "But why these pairings then?"
"I know, they are a little weird, huh?" She replied.
"You agree?" I was a little taken aback.
"Very much so." She nodded. "I didn't have any members in mind when working on the songs. I just kind of wrote them with the team, and then they decided who they thought would fit the songs."
"I see." I looked down.
"You don't like singing a duet with me, do you?" Jinnie asked.
"It's not that." I replied. "I just have somebody else in mind."
"It's okay, me too." Jinnie said.
I looked at her, a bit surprised, to see her staring into the recording booth.
"Axel hyung?" I asked.
She looked at me and just snickered, not really giving me an answer. "Just be glad we have a breakup song."
I couldn't help but snicker as she had a point. Just then, Axel and Daiyu finished their song and came out of the booth.
"Jun Chai, Jinnie, you're up." The recordist said.
We both got up and made our way into the recording booth. We started recording our song but half way through, there started to be problems.
"Hold on a second." The recordist said. "I have to go see what's going on."
The recordist left and so did our members. They were probably curious. Jinnie and I just sat on the floor in the booth.
"I hope we don't have to record today." I said. "I'm not in the mood."
"I'm really sorry the pairings disappoint you, Chai." Jinnie said, sitting beside me. "But I'm sure this isn't the end of duets and unit songs for E11EVEN. I expect there to be many more going forward. I'm sure you'll get a song with that special member another time."
"I hope so." I muttered.
That's when the door to the studio opened so Jinnie and I stood up, only to see and hear all my members bringing in a cake and singing happy birthday. I couldn't help but stand there in shock.
