Jack shrugged a bit and walked to the path again. "Let's start walking again for a little while." Amy followed him and they started down the dirt path again. After a while of walking, Amy could notice that Jack was warming up to her a bit and wasn't so quiet. He would say a few words here and there at times. He walked normally, not so closed off to himself.
Amy asked persistently. "So how do you know about this place?" Jack shakily shook his head. "That's for you to figure out, not for me to tell." Amy scowled at him as she was confused. "Why every question I ask, you say I already know. When I have never in my life been here at this place before. I have never met you before yesterday." Jack chuckled at her, as the confusion spread over her face. "Because soon you understand everything." Amy sighed hugely as she wanted to know now, like a child she pouted. Jack smiled at the sight of it, Amy took notice of the smile. He had a beautiful smile even when he smiled only a little bit. But as Amy turned her head to look forward on the path, someone snatched her wrist.
The grip from the hand was unbearably strong. It was so tight around her wrist, it felt like it was cutting off her circulation.
Jack ferociously grabbed her other wrist; he was even stronger than the other person. Jack yanked her out of the other person's grip and snatched her by the waist, pulling her towards him. Jack's strength was something Amy has never felt before, it was amazing, but unbelievably crazy as well. Jack kept his arm around her waist and pulled her even tighter against him. Like he was shielding her with his body. Her body was against his, both of them chest to chest. Her face against his chest, she could smell his cologne. Amy was now aware how burning hot he was, heat wise, not in that way. It was like he was a cook top that's been on for hours at a time. Amy tilted her head to the side as best as she could to see who the other person was. A tall but hunched over man stood with a long black cloak, covering his face.
The man looked like something out of a dark war book you would read, who would be the main villain in it. The man sputtered hoarsely, his voice old and wrenched. "Give me the girl and both of you will go unharmed." Jack liberated him. "Not in this lifetime or the next, will I ever let someone harm her." Jack squeezed his arms around Amy tighter, like he was going to lose her if he didn't pull her closer. Amy was breath taken from his grip, but mostly from him being so protective over her. Was he really going to keep his promise to that old lady back at the hut, Reba? Before she could keep thinking over all the questions that was in her brain, Jack released her and pushed her behind him. Both men took looks at each other but before the old hooded man could react, Jack had opened the backpack on his back. He unsheathed a long sword from right out of the backpack! Amy didn't understand a single bit of how the sword fitted in there, the bag acted as if it was Mary Poppins's bag.
The old hooded man was armed as well, but with a long staff of a metal pole. Jack's sword was tremendously long; the handle of the sword wrapped with a cheerless black rubber strap. Silver threading needling through it. The blade of the sword looked sharp enough to cut through flesh and bone. The long blade had to be at least 17 inches long. The sunlight hit it at an angle to make it shine, as if it had just been polished.
The old hooded man's weapons shimmered as well in the sunlight. All it was, was a long sheath of metal shaped into a pole, nothing fancy nor nothing more.
The old hooded man charged first, fast for being hunched over. Jack blocked the man's hit by a long shot, but still fell to the ground on one knee. Amy didn't even see Jack get hit, but she was right. He didn't get hit. Jack swinged the tip of the blade of his sword with such lush speed, you heard the wind against the blade. He caught the shoulder of the man as the man tried swinging to hit Jack in the head. But they flew back from each other, only a few steps but the man didn't even land a hit on Jack but Jack did to the man.
Blood flustered out the hunched man's shoulder, and Jack grinned, remorseless of it. The old hooded man spitted out, his voice horse-like. "Why protect her, you know full well who she is." Jack stood tall and sticked his weapon back into his backpack. "That cut is lethal and will kill you within several minutes if you don't get it healed. Leave or die by your own foolishness." The old hooded man scowled with pain. "Least I would die with pride, better then serve or protect that girl." The man turned and fled to the woods, disappearing within seconds of the tall oak trees. Jack turned to her, his eyes scanning Amy for any damage or harm. "Are you okay?" Amy was still stunned by what happened, she was speechless. All she could manage was a tiny brief nod to him. Jack sighed and his shoulders dropped as he muttered softly. "I guess now I have to explain what you are. And who you are to this place."
Amy stayed silent, just waiting for him to start at the very beginning of this madness.
Jack turned, pacing down the path.
But Amy chose to follow this time.
