Y/N's POV

"Y/N! We have to go, Stewart is here!" Morgan called out for me. Yes, I was indeed late.

We were back home by lunchtime and ordered some takeout, and I swear that I wanted to start getting ready at least three hours before we had to leave, it's not my fault I fell asleep and didn't hear the alarm.

So, I was left with just an hour to get ready, and it clearly wasn't enough, because now Morgan was all up my ass about being there on time.

In my defense, they could have woken me up.

And to add to that, one other reason why they just can't wait to go to the fundraiser is to see Jules, because they totally like her.

"Y/N! We're going to be late!"

"That's your fault!"

"Oh, really? I'm not the one who is always late!"

"You could have woken me up!" I yelled, trying to put my heels on.

I had a quite long baby blue dress and I had white heels at my feet, I already knew I was going to regret wearing them.

"I swear, sometimes I'm convinced your mom dropped you on your head as a child."

"Hey! That's rude!" I finally walked out of our apartment and we took the elevator to the first floor to find Stewart waiting for us.

"Good evening Morgan and Y/N," he said, opening the door for us.

Morgan helped me with my dress since I was almost about to trip on it and we both took our seats.

And then, the fun part started when Stewart got in the car.

"Stew, you know Morgan has a crush?" The words earned me a glare from my best friend who slapped my arm.

"Ouch!"

"Oh, do they?" It was the first time in years that I heard Stewart not use the same tone of voice for everything he said. That shocked me more than Morgan having a crush.

"They totally do! It's this girl I met today at my job interview, her name is Jules. We got coffee together and all of a sudden...guess what!"

"What?" There it was, his normal voice again.

"Morgan called me and they completely auto-invited themselves to join Jules and me. When they got there and laid eyes on Jules, that was it. They fell in love. They invited her to the fundraiser! Morgan! The same Morgan who waited five years to trust me with their toy trucks! Invited a girl they met five minutes before at one of their parents' events!"

"You broke all of my trucks, by the way," Morgan commented.

"Yeah, but your parents are rich so it doesn't matter."

We continued chattering about Morgan and their new crush, it was way funnier when Morgan tried to deny whatever I was saying, but deep down they knew I was right.

"Oh, look! Jules texted me! She says she's on her way!" I exclaimed, and my best friend immediately snatched the phone out of my hands just to be disappointed at the empty home screen.

"I fucking hate you!"

"I don't care, I proved my point! You saw that, Stew Stew?"

"I indeed did. I can also see that we're at the Stark mansion, so you are invited to get out of this car, you're fifteen minutes late," Stewart informed us.

"It's Y/N's fault."

"Don't be surprised if one day I just dropkick them in the face," I said to Stewart before Morgan and I got out of the car and quickly went inside to find their parents.

We looked around for a bit before we were approached by Pepper, basically my second mother.

"Y/N! It's so great to have you here!" She hugged me and I immediately felt safe in her arms.

"I missed you!"

"You know I'm your kid, right?"

"Go cry about it, Morgan," I gestured for them to go away and Pepper laughed at what I had just done.

"I'm gonna go find dad, he'll give me the attention I deserve," before Morgan could leave, we heard a deep voice behind us.

"Y/N, my favorite twenty-four year old," Tony said, giving me another hug.

"My favorite Stark!"

"Oh, you've got to be shitting me!" Morgan complained and made us all laugh.

Tony, Morgan and I were invested in a conversation meanwhile Pepper got us all some drinks while we waited for more people to show up.

"So, Y/N, Morgan told me you had a job interview at Oleg Resources, congratulations! It doesn't happen every day to have an interview at one of the most famous publishing houses in the whole country," I heard Pepper's voice, she gave us our drinks and quickly joined our little group.

"Oh, yeah, for sure. I hope I can get the job, I know it would make me very happy. I also told my mom about it, she was very excited."

"Ah, Rose! I miss her so much!"

Pepper and my mom had been friends for a long time. They both worked for Tony before he and Pepper got together.

"Y/N, the new CEO of Oleg Resources is Oleg's daughter, right?" Tony asked me.

"Wanda, yes, it's her."

"She's coming tonight."

And there it was, I once again felt my body freeze at just the mention of her name.

What was it about this woman that made me feel like this every time someone mentioned her?

"Oh, is she?" Tony nodded at my words.

"Oleg and I used to be good friends, I was very shocked by his passing, but I know he trusted Wanda with carrying on his legacy. I thought it would be nice to have her here."

"If you'll excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom," I gave Morgan my drink, something that I never thought I would do, and quickly ran upstairs to the bathroom.

I knocked on the door just to make sure nobody was in and when I got no response I opened the door, got behind and quickly closed it.

Why was I making such a big deal out of this?

She's just my possible future boss.

Okay, that's exactly why.

Totally not because she had me weak in the knees the whole time of my interview.

It was like she controlled me in some way and made sure that I saw, thought, or heard about anything else but her.

It was kind of creepy, to be honest, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't like it.

"Yeah, we'll see about that."

What did she mean? Was I not fit for the job?

If I wasn't I'm sure that she would've just kicked me out of her office.

There was no way everyone before me left just because they let those awful rumors get to them. She must have told them something to make them leave.

"Y/N? Are you okay?" Morgan's voice on the other side of the door interrupted my thoughts, and it was probably the first and last time I was thankful for something they did.

I'm obviously kidding.

"Yeah, I'm coming out now," I opened the door and we both walked down the stairs. The main room was filled with more people than before.

My breath got caught in my throat when I saw her.
