Wanda's POV

Jules and Morgan were in for what felt like an eternity, but I knew that I had to give them their time to check on Y/N.

I hadn't come up with anything good for my speech, I was just going to speak from my heart and hope for the best.

While I was still waiting both Ari and Stewart came back and he sat next to me. He was carrying a bag full of what I assumed was food as Morgan and Jules predicted.

"You know, it didn't take me much time to realize that you were the one Y/N kept talking about." He said while taking a donut out of the bag, offering one to me but I turned it down, I wasn't really in the mood to eat, I would do it later after my talk with Y/N.

"She talked about me?" I asked him and he nodded in response.

"Oh yeah," he took a bite of his donut and waited until he was finished with it before speaking up again. "She never told me your name, but as soon as I saw you here I knew it. Mrs. Maximoff doesn't just show up at a hospital unless it's someone important, doesn't she?"

"I guess you're right." I chuckled. "What did she tell you? If you're comfortable with sharing, obviously."

"Well, she asked me if I ever had any trouble figuring out if I liked someone." He smiled thinking about it. "She seemed worried, like she was scared something bad was going to happen, then it did."

Right...

"Of course, she told you about the conference." My head dropped so that I was looking at the floor while playing with my hands.

"Yeah, she did. It was shitty, what you did. I never curse, so this is serious." His words made me laugh, but he was right.

"I know, and don't worry, I already had the important talk with both my best friend and her best friends, so I don't need another one."  I reassured him.

"Good, I knew those two would do something useful at sometime in their lives."

As soon as he finished talking we saw Morgan and Jules walking out of the room, the brunette signaled for me to go in.

I didn't have to fixate on it, otherwise I never would have even gotten up from the chair, so I just did it.

I walked into the room and seeing her attached to all of those machines made my heart clench. She didn't deserve to hurt this way or any other way, honestly.

"Hey." I spoke softly while getting closer to her.

"Hi." Her voice was cold, how could I blame her?

Knowing myself I probably would have done worse.

"I...just need to talk to you, if you're okay with it. I can always come back when you're feeling better." There it went. Not knowing what to say, perfect.

She stayed silent for a few moments before speaking up. "It's okay, I'm fine. We can talk."

I didn't know if she would be comfortable with me sitting on the chair right next to her bed, I didn't want to overstep the  boundaries she might have set for herself.

I wouldn't want someone who hurt me close to my bed.

"You can sit here if you want, don't worry." Y/N pointed to the chair and so I sat.

Baby steps.

She hasn't snapped like I thought she would, but she would have every right to do it.

Y/N stared right into my eyes, waiting for me to speak up.

"I'm sorry. I never should have acted that way. I was mad, I took it out on you...I shouldn't have. I'm very sorry." I started, she let me continue. "I know I said things I shouldn't have said, or at least I shouldn't have said them with that tone." I looked at her, hoping she would see that I meant every bit of what I was telling her.

"I understand that you were mad and took it out on the first person you saw, but is it true? Were we just work partners? Didn't everything that happened matter?" She asked me.

How was I going to put this?

"I didn't mean that."

"How can I know that?"

"I am not like this, Y/N. The reason why I acted that way was because making myself feel like I'm in control of everything is my defense mechanism. People don't hurt you if you don't let them. But when I saw your face after I told you all those things, I knew I exaggerated. I sensed something special in you when I looked into your eyes for the first time, and I was scared of it. I was scared of feeling. I told myself to let go and I tried to a couple of times but then it turned out to be like I expected. I messed everything up. I'm sorry, I really am." I basically confessed everything in one breath.

She looked taken aback by what I had just said, but I understood that it was kind of a lot to process, she took deep breaths before talking.

"Why didn't you just tell me? We could have figured it out, you know."

"I told you, I was scared."

"Of what? Of me? Didn't you think it was the opposite?"

"Yeah, well..." I chuckled. "I didn't want to overstep. Maybe I was making it up in my head."

"You calmed me down from a panic attack. That's something that only my brother ever did, nobody else's comfort worked. But yours did. That was when I knew."

Did I hear everything right?

"Seriously?" I asked, not believing what she had said.

"Seriously."

"I wasn't expecting that."

"Yeah, me neither." She said and we both laughed.

There was still one thing I wanted to say.

"So...you and Ari? Are you two a thing?" She probably knew this question was coming, but she acted surprised anyway.

"No, we just went on a date...and then this happened. Not really our lucky day."

"Do you like her?" I didn't even hesitate to ask her that.

"I'm figuring it out, but now that you've talked to me...I find it very hard to make a decision." She giggled. I missed that sound.

I was surprised that I still had some kind of effect on her, this was going much better than I expected.

"Wanda, I'm going to need time. Even just a couple of weeks. Not just to recover from my injuries but also I need a break from all these things that happened in such a short time. I forgive you, I'm glad you opened up to me, I know it must have been hard, but just because I forgave you it doesn't mean that we can take a step forward, not yet."

"Of course, I get that. Thank you for understanding, Y/N. Take as much as you need, I'll be here for you whenever you need me."

I was down bad for this woman, I really was.

If Natasha were here they would probably start laughing and start making fun of me.

"Thank you."

We stayed silent for a bit until it was getting a little uncomfortable.

"Do you need anything? Water? Food? Stewart brought donuts." I told her.

"So you've met Stewart?" She smiled.

"Yup. He's sweet. I also met your brother and his boyfriend."

"They're the best. They know a lot about you."

"I thought it was just Stewart?"

"Oh no, it's the whole gang beside Ari, for, you know...obvious reasons."

"Yeah, I get that."

"I'll have to talk to her. Did you have a chance to do it? Is she okay?"

"Yeah, about Ari..."
