Y/N's POV

"Is she the one that could be your boss?" Morgan asked me, and I couldn't give them anything else but a slight nod.

Wanda was talking with Tony, and by the looks of it, she really enjoyed whatever they were talking about since she kept laughing.

How could people even think that she would do something that terrible like killing her own father just to get his job?

She was wearing a light red dress that fit her perfectly, she looked so pure, so calm...I highly doubted she would be capable of doing that.

"Let's go join them!"

Whenever I say that my best friend is a complete asshole, no one ever believes me.
They just put their best smile on their face and try to make me feel bad.

They dragged me near the table where Wanda and Tony were sitting and as soon as they did, they both looked at us.

"Hi dad, who is this lovely person you are talking to?" I hate Morgan when they play clueless.

"Morgan, this is Mrs. Maximoff, the newest CEO of Oleg Resources," Tony introduced them and Wanda held out her hand for Morgan to shake.

"It's my pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Maximoff. This is my best friend, Y/N," I shot them a glare before looking into Wanda's eyes, her hand was now held out for me to shake.

"Please, call me Wanda. It's my pleasure, Morgan and...Y/N, was it?" She teased me.

Says the one who fixated on reading my resume, but I guess that playing clueless was way fun for her too.

Tony looked at us weird, probably because he expect our interaction to be different since he knew about the interview. And honestly, I was too.

"Well, I have to go greet all of the guests that are joining us now. You all have a lovely time! And Wanda, I would love to continue that conversation about the article on our newest product!"

"You know where to find me!" Her voice was sweet, like the little taste she gave me of it later this morning.

"I'll just go with my dad, you know how elder people get when you don't greet them," and with that, it was just Wanda and me.

"It's great to see you again, Mrs. Maximoff," I tried to break the tension between us, but I immediately regretted it when she started walking toward me, getting closer and closer, tilting her head and making me take a step back.

"You don't have to lie, Y/N," she sounded...disappointed?

"I assure you I'm not, Mrs. Maximoff."

"Well, your cheeks are redder than usual, so it's either you don't want me here or this interaction is making you flustered." Though there were way too many people in the same room and the noises were loud, I could still hear her perfectly even if she was whispering.

I couldn't answer that, I really couldn't, but something was telling me to do it. To show her that she couldn't control me, that I had what it took to be her best journalist and that I wasn't just her puppet, if this was even about work anymore.

"This isn't very professional, Mrs. Maximoff."

With everything I could've said in that situation, why on earth did I think that was going to be the best option?

By the look on her face, I could notice that she wasn't offended by my words, worse, she was amused.

"Don't be a brat, Y/N, that's not how it's going to work with me, got it?" She started, and fearing I might say something stupid again, this time I just nodded at her. "Good, I'll see you around."

And with that, she left.

Leaving me flustered by her touch and her eyes on mine, but at least she left.

"I can't believe this just happened," I kept thinking to myself.

I searched through the whole room for Morgan, and of fucking course, found them talking with Jules as if they were a couple of horny teenagers.

"Hi Jules, sorry, I need to steal this one from you for a bit!" I didn't even give her time to answer, because I immediately dragged Morgan to their room upstairs.

"Is this about Mrs. Maximoff? Please, tell me you got some."

Yeah, that's my best friend.

"Okay, first off, ew. She could be my boss. But yeah, it is."

Morgan gestured for me to keep going and I told them about everything: about the things she said during the interview and the things she told me just now.

"Yeah, you're totally getting some!" I smacked their arm. They deserved it.

"I need serious Morgan right now, please."

"Y/N, I told you, you're getting some. But if I have to tell you that again in a more serious tone, then I would tell you that she sounds like she's interested in you. No one would say or do these things if they weren't interested in you. I mean, I wouldn't spend a bunch of time fixating on someone's resume if I wasn't even in the slightest bit interested by them."

I hated it when they were (probably) right.

"But what about...what about everyone says? Have you heard?"

"I've heard what people have been saying about her, Jules also talked to me about it, but I don't believe those rumors, it's just crazy to think of something like that," Morgan took a breath and then kept going. "Look, Y/N, you're an adult, you can do whatever you want. All I can tell you is to not rush into things, but also not let them go when they could be good for you. If you get the job, focus on the job. Then, if after a while you start to like your boss and she feels the same way, go for it. You're both capable of making your own decisions, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Hell, my dad was my mom's boss before they got together, who am I to judge?"

"You sound so wise right now, it kind of makes me want to punch you."

"I'm never giving you pep talks again."
