Wanda's POV
Y/N and I got home after eating our lunch, I appreciated that she didn't ask about what was going on my office, because I probably would have tripped over my own words if I tried to explain it.
I was mad that she had to see that, that she had to witness such a bad moment and how she found out about Anya.
I knew Y/N was just trying to do a good thing, but I wish she had stayed home. It wasn't her fault, not at all, I knew she meant nothing but good and that she possibly couldn't have known, but gosh, how do I wish this never happened.
I parked my car in my personal spot and once we both got out we walked into the house.
Even though I knew she wasn't mad at me, she needed an explanation, not only because she was my girlfriend, but because she was also my employee, and she needed to know.
We both got into comfortable clothes before we sat on the couch, my head was on her chest as she passed her hand through my hair, making me feel as relaxed as I could, but I knew it wasn't going to last long.
"Y/N, we have to talk." I told her, distancing myself from her touch, immediately feeling empty.
"Wanda...it's okay. Words can wait." Her soft voice took over my whole body but I shook the feeling away, it wasn't the right moment to avoid communication. No moment ever was. If there was one thing that being in a relationship had taught me was that staying silent over something that can be talked out, was good for nothing.
"No, they can't, Y/N. What I'm about to tell you involves you too, it involves Jules...everyone at Oleg Resources." I stood up, feeling the rage build up in my body.
This wasn't going to end well, was it?
"What do you mean?"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down, this couldn't go like the last time Y/N and I went over something.
"Do you remember the morning I asked you to be my girlfriend? When right after I got called into work."
"Yeah, of course I do."
"Fred texted me saying that they had noticed some suspicious calls and that whoever was calling requested an urgent meeting with me. They weren't able to track down who sent the calls or messages, so I had to go there." I started. I couldn't even believe that what I was saying had actually happened. "It was Anya, my...sister. She's my half-sister, actually."
"How come you never told me about her?" Y/N asked, of course she couldn't have known.
"I never knew about her either, Y/N." I pronounced those words and my girlfriend's eyes went open wide.
"What?"
My hands went through my hair, I felt my heartbeat fasten and my legs were starting to feel weak. I was on the verge of crying, but I held the tears in as much as I could. I had to get through this.
"Apparently my father was married to another woman before meeting my mom. She was his first love, from what Anya told me. They moved to the United Kingdom just a few months after they had her." I told her, remembering what Anya had told me when I met her the first time.
"That explains the accent."
"Yeah, and I wish it was just that." I let out a big breath, it didn't end there. "They divorced when she was a teenager, they took a trip to the US to visit their families but my father met my mother and he fell in love with her. He left Anya and her mom behind in the UK, he would send them money every month, but we never knew, not even my mom. Until my dad started the company, he did that when we were kids, he was so busy that he stopped sending the money, it was like he had forgotten about them." With each word I said, I felt like I needed to hold onto something.
"Wait, does she...?" She understood. How couldn't she? It was Y/N. My smartest girl, my best journalist.
"Before Oleg Resources got huge, my father made a statement saying that when he died, the company would go to his first child. And when he did, Pietro didn't want to. Yes, we're twins, but he was born a few minutes before me. He didn't want to hear it, he refused, so I got the position. Also because no one knew about Anya, heck, Anya didn't even know he died until she started calling. She was part of an agency in the UK before coming here, but now she-"
"She wants your position." Y/N finished my sentence.
My head fell down, my eyes glued to the floor. I couldn't look her in the eyes.
"Wanda..." Y/N sat up, but she didn't get close. She was facing me. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"There was nothing you could have done, because there was nothing I could have done. Anya is going to prove she is my father's first child and the position is going to go to her."
"I could have supported you, Wanda. I could have listened to you, comforted-"
"I don't need to be comforted, Y/N." I raised my voice.
I raised my voice.
I raised my voice at her.
How could I?
I was taking a step back after all the steps forward I worked hard to take.
I was becoming the person she met the day of the interview.
The worst part was that I couldn't help it. I couldn't help getting mad.
"I could have been there for you, at least. Why do you always push me away somehow? It happened on the trip and now here. It feels like you never fully trust me, and I get it. I know it's scary for you, I know you're scared of losing your position but-"
"You don't, Y/N. You don't know anything." My voice couldn't change its tone, and frankly, I didn't even put effort into changing it.
"Okay." She sighed. "I'll give you time to calm down. I'll be upstairs in the guest room."
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Why can't I keep the one good thing in my life while everything else is falling apart?
