Kix looked at Cain, shocked to see him storming in and demanding a blood test for a midichlorian count.

"I can do that yes, but why may I ask?" Kix questioned.

"I have a bad feeling," Cain said, stipping himself of the top of his armour and helmet and tossing it on the nearest bed so Kix could get a syringe to a vein in the crook of his elbow.

"About what? What could a midichlorian count do to you?" Kix watched Cain incredulously.

"I'm not sure. I just read something about my family."

"Okay. Arm out." Kix grabbed a tray consisting of a syringe and three vials. Cain sat down on the nearest chair and held his bare arm out, looking away. He felt the syringe prick his skin and he took deep breaths in and out.

"There, all done. I'll test it now," Kix stated after about a minute, smearing a small amount of bacta onto the tiny wound. Cain stood up and dressed himself, keeping his helmet off and leaning it on his hip.

Kix took a step back from the monitor displaying Cain's blood results. He sighed. "Well, you are perfectly healthy. But... what the kriff," Kix almost deadpanned. He pointed to the midichlorian count. "How? How? How is it this high? Higher than General Yoda, but lower than General Skywalker."

"What? Why am I so high?" Cain asked, trying to hide the dread creeping into his voice. It makes sense now. Why the Jedi took Obi-Wan and completely ignored him and Alyssa. Cain was the abnormality in his family. Was Alyssa one too?

"I don't know. What bad feeling did you have?"

"Family heritage. I thought I may be the odd one out that happens every so often. It seems like I am."

"This means...?"

Cain shook his head. "Nothing as of yet. I don't think it will mean anything."

Kix nodded. "Alright. Have a good day, General."

"Try to as well, Kix."

Kix chuckled. "I always do."

Cain smiled and put his helmet on, walking out of the room.

Cain walked to Padmé's quarters to pick up Ulari. His comm chimed and he rolled his eyes.

"Cain here," he said into the small device.

"It's Fives here. Can you come over?" Fives asked.

"Um what?"

"Can you come over?"

"You're in barracks. You couldn't sneak in anyone even if you tried."

Cain heard Fives laugh. "Can I come over to you then?"

"I look after Ulari. I don't think it'll be possible."

"What about after she's asleep?"

Cain hesitated. "Possibly. She sometimes wakes up with nightmares though. I'll give your comm a ping if you can."

"Wait, really? Aw yes."

"What'd you wanna come over for anyway?"

"I thought it was obvi-"

"Shut up for a moment. Someone's gonna hear this. I'm transferring the call to my helmet." Cain pressed a few buttons before speaking again and tucking his comm away. "What were you saying?"

"That it's obvious why I wanna come over."

"We haven't even established a relationship. That kiss yesterday was a once off."
