Ella's POV

I wipe my face. The full moon shining down on me. "Stop crying!" I tell myself. I think back to the promise I made myself years ago. I promised to never cry unless Lucas is dead or dying. And he isn't dead or dying. It was just a dream. I shake my head and lay down. "You little shit. You better stay alive." I speak into the air. I sigh,

"I don't know what I would do if I don't ever find you." I say. "And if I find you dead.... That would be it for me." I say as I roll onto my side. "I need to sleep, to keep my strength up." I tell myself. I look at the edge of the roof as my eyes get heavy. I close my eyes and curl up into a ball. My arms around my knees. And I slowly fall back asleep.

I slowly open my eyes when I feel the sun on my face. With a groan, I sit up and rub my eyes. I stand up and grab all my things. "Now, to the place, I hoped I would never go again." I say as I go to the ladder. I look down and see no zombies. So I walk around the building and look in the street. I only see a few zombies down there. Nothing I can't handle.

So I climb down the ladder. Once I'm on the ground I pull out a spray can and I spray my tag on the side of the building. I put the spray can under my tag. I kiss my fingers and press them to my tag. My fingers getting some paint on them, but I don't care. "I will find you." I quietly say. I grab my bag and put it on. I walk out of the alleyway and down the street. Killing the few zombies in the street.

The warehouse I'm going to is a few towns over. It should take a week on foot with no distractions or interruptions. It would take a few hours if I had a car. But most cars are wrecked. Or they don't have any gas in them. I sigh and start to run. I keep a steady pace so as to not waste too much energy. I run past a few zombies here and there. I have to kill a few. But it's nothing bad.

Around noon I stop to take a small break. When I started running it was eight o'clock. And from then to now, I have only really taken a few three-minute breaks every now and then. So I finally sit down and let my body relax a little, seeing as there are no zombies nearby. I'm on a highway and there are a few cars. Most of them have flat tires or the hood of the car is up.

Meaning someone stole parts from the cars. As I sit my stomach growls. So I get in my bag and grab an apple. I want to eat the food that will go bad first. I only get down half before my stomach starts to hurt from being full. But I force myself to finish the apple, knowing I need as much energy as I can get. I grab a bottle of water and I slowly drink it.
