Shawn's P.O.V

After leaving Elder Margaret, Angel and I start walking back to the pack house. We walk in silence most of the way as he seemed like he was deep in thought. Before we left, I had Angel step out of the office so that I could ask Elder Margaret about the possibility of people getting their wolf back after losing it. I didn't give her any context about who I was asking for but she didn't need any for her to answer.

Her theory was that Angel never lost his wolf. He might have been suppressing his wolf and just didn't know it. The old bag didn't tell me any more than that. I'm not going to tell Angel any of this since this is based on theory.

"Back in the office..." Angel says from behind me. I hadn't noticed that he fell behind.

"What?"

"Back in the office, did you mean it when you said that you'll never leave me?" he asked from where he had stopped. We were standing on a sidewalk on a back road, down the street from the pack house. We're about five minutes away.

"I meant every word I said." I express as I walk up to him. I reach out to grab his hand but he avoids me and plays it off by hugging himself. Every time I feel like I'm one step closer to claiming him, he sets us three steps back.

I look at him as he stares at me with a neutral expression, void of any emotion. He looked like he had made a decision about something I am unaware of, and I don't like it.

"I don't trust you..." he starts. I ball my fists and grimace at his words.

"But I want to. I want to tell you everything. My secrets and all. Just like what Elder Margaret was saying. As long as you can do the same with me. You have to tell me everything I want to know. Starting now, no secrets."

"Like now? Right here in the middle of the road?" I question teasing him.

"Well...I...uh...o-of course not, don't be an idiot." he stutters out.

"Of course. Where should we go to talk?" I question.

"Can you come to my place?"

"Of course." I answer quickly.

"Ugh, that seems to be the word of the fucking day." he breathes out as he begins to walk my way.

"What does? Of course?" I question as he walks past me.

"Shut up." he says speeding up.

"That's actually two words you know." I corrected.

"Shut uuup."

"It's going to rain soon." I say as we walk up to the entrance of his home. I watch as Angel closes his eyes and sniffs the evening air. I walk up behind him and lean into the crevice of his neck. That earthy scent of the forest and upturned-rich soil after rainy days invade my nostrils.

"But it has nothing on your scent." I say breathing down his neck. I could hear his heart race as my body towers over his. Although, his scent sweetened bitterly, indicating that something was wrong.

"Really? Cause I thought it stinks." he says while walking inside the house. He left me speechless in the doorway.

'Was that necessary!?' I think to myself before entering his house.

"We can talk while I cook. I'm hungry." He announces loud enough for me to hear from the den.

"You cook?" I ask curiously as I follow him.
A few seconds of silence pass by before he finally answers my question.

"I don't have much experience but Grey has been teaching me how for a while now." Mani and I cringe from another man's name flying from his mouth.

"Are y'all close?" I question halfheartedly.
