Maarsgard (pr. n.): the afterlife equivalent realm of Heaven for the Supernatural where the dead reunite with their loved ones and pass eternity; unknown ruler
Angel P.O.V
I'm hiding in the 4 ft. x 8 ft. x 4 ft. closet in the hallway that is three doors down from my room. My subpar night-time vision allows me to see that it's a walk-in supply closet that consists of maintenance and repair tools on the top shelf, cleaning items on the next two shelves down, and then towels and hygiene products filling the last two shelves.
I've been quietly rummaging through containers of screwdrivers and tools in hopes that I can procure a weapon of some kind.
"Wrench. Spanner. Grips. Pliers. Flashlight. There has to be something better than scissors in here," I whisper to myself.
Dear Goddess by the moon, if I can't find something to fight with then that will make my plan to escape much more difficult.
Panic, an emotion I'm much too familiar with in this stupid Manor, surges in my chest.
Desperate to find something, I start taking everything out of the container one by one. I concentrate on the coolness of the tools and how heavy they feel in my hands. On my seventh time digging back inside, I felt a small but heavy object at the bottom. It has a clasp on one side, the kind that allows you to hook on clothes, and on the other side, there is an edged button.
I press down on the button and a sharp knife comes flying out. Amazed at how sharp it is, I touch the knife and immediately my finger starts to burn. I gasp and drop the knife on top of the tools.
A CLANK echoes in the small closet and I curse in Spanish as I grab the knife, re-conceal the blade, and move to the door. I know someone had to hear that down the hall so I need to move fast.
Silver. The blade is silver. Oh, thank every entity, God, Goddess, and their children. Silver is exactly what I need right now.
In a pack, all things silver are usually locked up within the Weapon's Hut. The old laws consider having them for any other purpose than fighting under pack Alpha's orders to be treason. But I won't even question why there was a silver blade buried in a toolbox here. I'll just have to get rid of it once I'm out of here.
I ease the door open and peer out into the corridor. I hear faint footsteps of one person coming from my left, where my father's study is. I leave the door open hoping that will slow them down.
I sprint silently along the wall to keep everything within my periphery. A minute later I reach the staircase that circles the foyer on the first floor.
The next part of my plan is to make it to the Beta's dayroom because from there it's a straight shot into the woods. I just have to make it to the dayroom.
I take a peek around the corner and see two warriors by the entrance. The windows by the double-door entrance let me know that the sun has finally set. Which means I have 24 hours to get the hell out of dodge.
"May I help you, Master," I jump in surprise as I spin on my heels and make a move to grab the silver blade.
"Did you wish to join last meal with Lady Marcella?" Beauregard asks. I stiffen at my mother's name.
"Does it look like I want to share a damn meal?"
"I apologize. It was wrong of me to assume, Master," I don't know why he insists on calling me Master, knowing that if my father heard him, he would most likely end Beauregard's life.
