Shawn's P.O.V

"Why are you here?"

"Don't be rude, Shawn." my mother instructed as she grabs the dishes and carries them to the sink.

"It's just a simple question." I mumble to no one.

"Well if you must know, we were all discussing Elijah's birthday.." my brother says from across the table.

"And where is Elijah?"

"He's with Esme's parents and your father." my mother answers.

"Mom lost a bet so she had to stay behind." Cena teases.

"Oh shut up, I'll get to be with him next time." she defends.

"He might not even remember so why go all out?" I state as I look back at my mother.

"He won't but we will," she concludes.

"Whatever."

"Anyways, I'm glad you came home before we left because there is something that I want to tell you." Cena says as he sits up in his seat, grabbing my full attention.

"And that is?"

"Angel Castro-Estrada will be joining the scout's ranks. Although, his title won't be officially instated without a proper assessment from both you, Lead Scout, and myself."

"Don't joke. Are you serious? He won't last one week, he's better off as a hunter. Maybe not even that."

"And why is that? Have you seen him fight?" Cena says as calmly as ever.

"What? No, I imagine I don't have to."

"Then there is no reason why he can't be a scout. His sister, Abigail, speaks very highly of him and his skills. It's just a matter of seeing him in action. Also, I haven't told him the good news yet. Leave that to me."

"He'll be happy to hear it." Esme announces which causes me to snap my head in the direction her voice was coming from.

"I think so too. He used to bug me every day when he first got here." Cena chuckles as he holds his hand out for his mate to grab.

"I remember. He could really use some good news right now." Esme says back before taking his hand and kissing his forehead.

"Hey, what do you mean he could use some good news right now? Did he say something?" I ask bitterly. Esme looks my way and stares at me with utter disgust spread across her face. She made eye contact with me for a while before answering my question.

"No, he didn't." She says monotonously as she looks back at Cena.

"I think it's time to go and pick up Elijah, love."

"Really? It's still early in th--"

"Yes. I'm sure your mother would love to see him and I believe that we can discuss everything else at my parent's house while he's occupied."

"Alright, if that's what you want. Mom, we can drive you."

"Alright, let me get my bag. Shawn, there's still food on the stove for you and Angel to eat. Make sure you convince him to stay for dinner. He never reached out last time I invited him." my mother explains before getting up.

"Alright, alright, tell Eli I said hi." I voice out before everyone leaves the house.

Damn.

Having an omega among my scouts will be another problem added to my list. I'll just be babysitting him while Scout Leader will just go easy on him. How could Cena recruit him without even knowing if he's a valuable asset? I've heard warriors claim that he's fast on his feet, even faster than Winda but it takes more than just speed to become even acknowledgeable in my ranks.
