"Look you don't know me but I know who you are, Shawn Powell. My name is Seven Fowl and Grey Astr is my mate."

"Grey is your mate?" Seven nods while rubbing over his thighs. "The one and only," he says earnestly.

"Oh. I'm so sorry." I say feigning sympathy. I watch as his jaw ticks and tightens in irritation. I can tell he's holding back a rebuttal by the audible swallow he made.

"It's an honor to call Grey my mate and I will do the impossible to make him happy. Even if that includes me sitting here and begging for your help."

I roll my eyes behind my eyelids. "What does any of this have to do with Angel? Is he ok?" I question with my patience running thin.

"Just listen, we'll tell you everything." Roy started. "You already know that Winda took the title of Lead Warrior in the pack after you were stripped from your rank. What you don't know is that after you left, about six months or so later, we allied with the Midnight pack."

'The Midnight pack? Isn't that the pack Angel is from?' I thought to myself.

"It was the right decision at the time because their number of Warriors was triple ours. The hardest part was getting some of their best men to accept the fact that they'll be living among witches of the Hecate Coven."

That makes sense. The people in the Moonshine pack are open-minded to the idea of living among witches and warlocks every day. But heavily traditional packs, like the Midnight pack, have people that would rather drink wolf bane than work with witches and warlocks.

"Out of hundreds of the wolves in the Midnight pack, only 38 of them agreed to come here and aid us in our battle with Mikealis and his increased number of newborns."

"38!? there are dozens of packs near us. Why didn't Alpha consider them?" I inquired.

"He did but Mikealis is targeting other packs too. They couldn't help us more than they can help themselves. Also, none of their Warriors wants anything to do with us as long as we hosted the Hecate Coven in our territory."

"I don't know about you but 38 was better than none and a big help they were," Seven said from his place on the floor.

"The battle went on for two days. For two days we held them off and we watched as the corpses piled around us. The battlefield stretched from the horizon in every direction save the keep at our backs. 233 Warriors and scouts went into battle with Mikealis' army and 233 came back home.
Unfortunately, Mikealis — as slippery as he is known to be— escaped and slipped through our grasp." Roy explains.

I almost growled at the fact that they let him get away. But it is hard to capture one of the world's oldest vampires to walk the Earth.

"Angel was one of the Scouts that fought among them."

"And badass he was. He was in my section and I have to admit, for a wolf that fights as a human, he did not disappoint." Seven chimes in. It took everything in me to hold back the smile that threatened to tug on my face. Just hearing them praise him made me feel things I'd never felt before.

"So he's safe? Not hurt." I said while looking between Seven and Roy. They looked at each other as if they were silently communicating. No one said anything for several heartbeats.
