Chapter 32: Another job to do

The two of them never got along, there were many things why they just couldn't, mainly it were personal issues with eachother, but right now there was one thing that made them to work together and at least try to get along and that thing was your well-being and none of them couldn't deny it.

Both of them just cared too much.

At morning, you woke up when you heard Akutagawa muttering something into his phone. You rubbed your eyes and sat up, your eyes watching him.

"Yes. I'll do it. Fine."

He hung up, staring at you. His hand caressed your cheek before moving to your forehead. A smile flickered on his face. "The fever is gone. How are you feeling?"

You gently removed his hand from your forehead and cupped it in your palm. "I feel better now. So much better. I feel like nothing happened yesterday. Like I am completely fine," you informed him, although it wasn't true, you just didn't want him to worry. If this was going to be the last few hours of your life, you didn't want him to be sad. Because if he was sad, you'd be sad either and even more.

"Are you sure?" he asked you again, suspicion in his voice.

"Yes. I am sure," you smiled at him, "who were you talking to, by the way?" you asked, in order to avoid the subject about your health and well-being. Akutagawa was looking at you sceptically, but didn't say anything, only answered your question. He knew that you're avoiding the subject. He knew your tactics too well.

"I have one mission to complete," he told you, still giving you that glance you hated so much. You knew he can see through your smiley face. And that was something what was bothering you.

"What kind of mission? Can I come too?"

Your eyes lit up and your smile widened. Akutagawa smirked at how excited you were all of a sudden and kissed you on the cheek, but then his face again took on a cold yet calm expression. "Sorry but no Y/N. What if you feel sick again? I don't want to endanger you."

"And do you think it's safe here? Of course not! Nowhere is safe at the moment! Please... let me go with you, Akutagawa! This way at least you'll always have an eye on me, and it's better than if I stayed here and was alone!" you begged him, because you kind of wanted to keep an eye on him too.

Akutagawa just let out a sigh, then gave you a nod. "Fine. Just...be careful, Y/N."

"I am not a kid!"

"Sometimes it seems to me like you are," Akutagawa muttered to himself, but you heard him, as he figured out when your fist punched his chest. You left your bed and changed your clothes in the bathroom, making it quick because you didn't want to make him wait. When you were done, you gave him bright smile, trying to take control over your diziness.

"We can head on the mission!"

Akutagawa only raised his right brow. Of course, he didn't believe that you're suddenly so fine. He just decided to act like he does. He carefully grabbed your hand and you two left Chuuya's apartment together.

"Where's Chuuya, by the way?" you asked your boyfriend when you two left the HQ.

"Oh...I don't know. Maybe he has some work to do now that the boss regained consciousness and left Headquarters on his own. He didn't tell anyone where he was going, he just left. This must be driving Chuuya crazy as I know him," Akutagawa briefed you on the current situation. You weren't thinking much about the whole thing, you just realized that Mori probably also feels better, just like you do now. But where could he go? You had no idea.
