It was quickly becoming dawn whilst we continued walking hand and hand. We had spent our time doing nothing but walking, but Theo had said he wanted to show me something. A place that was special to him.
He led us onto a long cobbled path leading into the woods. Either side of the path was a small wall which separated us from the low hanging trees on either side which swayed gently in the wind. Birds sat in the branches singing and flapping there wings. It is peaceful and there is nothing but the sounds of nature and our in sync breathing to be heard for miles. Theo and I stayed in a comfortable silence. We had walked around all night before deciding to come here, we talked so much I was starting to think I would run out of things to say, so this break was greatly appreciated. Theo would occasionally squeeze my palm, like he was reminding me that he was still there, in which I would squeeze back in acknowledgment. It felt like we were the only ones in the world. Even though that's partly true, it didn't feel lonely or isolated as you would think. It felt empowering. Like we were the only humans in the world that survived a zombie apocalypse or a deadly virus and now it was up to us restart the world. I finally felt important. As we came to the end of the path that's when I saw it, a huge lake with the sun sitting on its surface as it hung low in the sky. The water was so clear that you could see the fish darting through its depths. There was a wooden bridge stretched across its width creating a path to the other side which looked like more woods. On the bridge were flowers covering the rail, they weaved in and out of each other creating a massive merge of colors from the distance. It looked like something out of a children's book; everything looked so pretty and neat, like a professional grounds keeper looked after it. Something so pretty couldn't be completely natural. On the far side of the lake there was a willow tree with a swinging bench attached to it's branches. Theo smiled at my bewildered expression and led me towards the bench.
"So you like it?" He asked pulling me onto his lap as we sat on the bench rocking backwards and forwards slowly.
"I love it, how did you find this place?"
"This is one of the first places I remember coming to when I was a kid, I just woke up here and I stuck around" he looked down at me stroking my arms and I couldn't help but nuzzle my head into his chest. He was so strong and masculine that I felt safe whenever I was near him.
"Do you want to go for a swim?" Theo smirked.
"Not in-particularly no" I laughed.
"Suit yourself" Theo pulled me off of his lap and stood up making his way to the lake.
"You're not going in by yourself are you!" I shout over to him. He ignores me and continues, taking his top off as he nears. I watch as his back moves as he stretches to pull his shirt over his head. His back was so large and tan and his muscles tensed as he stretched. I defiantly had a thing for backs. "Theo!" I shout over again.
"Shailene, I am going in and I would like you to join me" He said as he turned around. He run a hand through his hair and left out his palm for me to take. I let out a puff of air and walked over to him, sneakily taking a look at his toned torso as I came closer to him. I finally grabbed a hold of his palm and he smiled. He lifted my chin up towards him bringing me closer to his lips. He pressed his lips on mine and felt him smile into the kiss. Suddenly he jumped into the lake tugging me with him as he falls.
A huge splash erupted around us and I swam to the surface of the water gasping for air.
"Theo you absolute fucking twat!" I shouted in a random direction. My hair was covering my eyes and I flapped around in the water not knowing what direction Theo was in.
"Nice insult, I'm soooo hurt" he teased. I felt him touch my waist as he wiped my hair out of my eyes. "You look good wet" He said with a wink.
"Theo!" I scolded with jab to his arm. He gave me a mock hurt look and rubbed his arm dramatically. He swam away slowly looking back at me every few seconds as he did it, with his bottom lip wobbling. I gave him a sad look back and held out my arms for him to say sorry.
"Why do you have to be so cute?" He smiles swimming back to me. He picks me up from the water and wraps his arms around my waist and spins me around before throwing me back down into the water. I couldn't help but laugh as I land with another catastrophic splash.
"This is why I didn't want to go swimming, you're just a bully!" I laugh rubbing my eyes.
"I'm sorry" He says swimming back over to me. "A hug for real?" He says with open arms. I move towards his arms before diving under the water under his legs and merging from behind him. I jump on to his back catching him off guard and pull him under the water with me.
"Fuck your apology." I laugh as we emerge from the water.
"This is war Miss Woodley" He says lowering his voice dramatically. "Ill give you a 10 second head start, then I'm coming for you with no remorse" I let out a laugh but nod. Theo starts counting loudly as I start to swim away as fast as I can towards the sunrise.
