As General Naemon departed the cell, the sound of the heavy iron door echoing shut reverberated through the chilly air, Dante was left in contemplative solitude. The dim light from the narrow barred window cast shadows across the cold stone floor, and the atmosphere bore witness to his ache and confusion.
Seated on a chair, Dante ran a hand through his disheveled white hair, the color as radiant and pure as freshly fallen snow. The shock of it had drawn stares during his time as a knight among the Order, but now, in the confines of his cell, it served as a stark reminder of his isolation. It had become a part of him—an emblematic representation of his uniqueness.
Sighing deeply, he leaned against the wall, allowing the memories to wash over him like a gentle tide, ebbing and flowing as he recalled his friends and comrades. "Kami... just what did I do to deserve this?" he wondered aloud, the weight of his loneliness crashing down on him. The whispers of his past rang in his ears, echoing through the hallways of his mind.
In a flash, names swirled around his consciousness: Rose, Yuma, Cole, Kira, and even Corporal Marika. Each name paired with memories—, bonds that surpassed the trials of time. Where are you guys? he thought desperately, longing for their presence to banish the darkness surrounding him.
Turning away from the window, he caught sight of the untouched tray of food that had been left for him. Despite the gnawing hunger in his stomach, the thought of eating felt hollow amid his swirling emotions. How could he enjoy the simple comfort of food when his life dangled precariously in the balance?
Footsteps approached from outside the cell, drawing Dante's gaze back toward the door. He strained to hear the sounds of life—the chatter of guards stationed nearby, the occasional passing comment from soldiers fulfilling their duties. He hadn't noticed the hooded figure lingering just beyond the threshold.
"Your a strange human..." came a voice, inquisitive and bright, cutting through the dreariness of the moment. Dante turned slightly, curiosity piquing his interest. "I've never seen anyone with hair that white... like snow even."
With a slight furrow of his brows, Dante maintained his silence as he assessed the figure, unsure whether to engage further. "Yeah... I don't know many humans with white hair either," he finally acknowledged dryly, his tone devoid of enthusiasm.
The hooded figure shifted, and Dante could sense a lively energy emanating from her. "I think it's beautiful," the voice chimed back, cheerful and lighthearted, as if she were already familiar with him.
