Chapter 20: Truth or Dare

-Kyleigh's POV-

"How's it looking?" I ask Ashton as he pulls off the last of my old bandages.

"Well, it would look a hell of a lot better if you weren't so adamant on being active. But all things considered, it looks fine," Ashton says as he opens the bag of medical supplies. I glance down at the injury and I feel a tad bit woozy. The area is badly bruised with purple and black decorating the surrounding puncture wound, and there is still dried blood even though it's been nearly a week since I was shot.

"If anything hurts even a little bit, tell me," Ashton states as he goes in to wash the area with water.

"I know the drill," I smile half-heartedly as I brace myself for the contact. He delicately cleans the area, and even though it stings, I remain quiet. He then pulls out the Neosporin and applies some of it to a fresh bandage.

"I feel bad that I'm using so many of our supplies," I admit, ignoring the nagging pain in my abdomen.

"You shouldn't," Ashton says, focused on lining the bandage and ointment up with the worst part of the injury.

"You have used so much of the Neosporin on me in the past few days. What if someone needs it in a few weeks, and it's all gone because of me?" I point out.

After he applies the large band-aid, he pulls out the compression bandage and wraps it around my waist before cutting it and finishing up with the routine.

"Kyleigh, you need to stop thinking like that. What happens in the future will happen. Just be glad we even have these supplies now. Trust me, it would be so much worse if I didn't use the antibacterial ointment and then your wound got infected," Ashton explains.

"I guess so," I say and pull my shirt back down to cover my stomach, "Thanks."

"No problem," Ashton smiles, putting the supplies away, "But if you're so keen on getting back out there, I have some rules you need to abide by."

I raise my eyebrows, "I'm listening."

"First of all, that bandage cannot get wet. By any means necessary, you have to keep it dry, so go inside if it rains, try not to go into any streams, and although it may be hard in this heat, try not to sweat too much," Ashton starts.

"Noted," I nod, "What else?"

"If you ever feel intense pain when doing something, stop. I know you may want to come across as strong, but just don't be dumb and cause the wound to reopen or get infected," Ashton says sternly.

"I'll try my best," I say.

"Good. And this one is a bit awkward to say, but I would highly recommend not getting...intimate with anyone here," Ashton uncomfortably says.

My eyes widen, "There's no chance of that."

"Are you sure about that? Cause I'm picking up on a vibe between you and Jensen," Ashton wiggles his eyebrows.

"What? No. There's no vibe. I mean, he is very attractive, but there's no vibe. Nothing will happen. Seriously. It's not even plausible. So that shouldn't even be a rule. Cause it won't happen," My face flushes a little as I trip over my words.

Ashton laughs, "If you say so. Regardless, it's not that you can't do anything, but just be extremely careful to not let debris or dirt get underneath the bandages."
