Chapter 8

Mal pov

It was the weekend and you know what that means, sweet break! I ate my pudding happily while enjoying the view from my apartment terrace. I sighed at the beautiful sight, the weather was warm and I had a table full with my favorite delicacies! This is what I call the perfect day, "Miss someone's on the phone for you." Charles' voice came out of nowhere.

But alas my day to myself had to be cut, "I'll be there." I said standing up and headed back inside. I picked up my house phone, "Hello, this is Mal Kamado." I said. "Mal are you with Shu?" A familiar voice says, "Valt, I'm not with Shu right now he said he had to do something." I informed him. Valt then began to ramble and mix words I couldn't even understand, "Valt take a deep breath why are you like this?" I asked.

"Nika saw Shu come from the doctors and said she bumped into him!" Valt says. My blue eyes widened, "Valt I think I know where he is, meet me at the bey park!" I said. Valt gave a hum of agreement, "Charles I'm going out for a bit!" I yelled and rushed to the door and put on my shoes.

I ran towards the bey park and saw Valt just arrived. We both spotted Shu launching Sprzen, but drew back because of his shoulder. "Did you hurt your shoulder?!" Valt asks. Shu flinched and turned to see us, "Where did yo-." Shu was cut off by Valt. "Well are you hurt?" Valt asks, "tell me!" He demands. Shu got up from his position and looked back at us, "Hey what's up are you here to practice? I was just about to head out." Shu says.

I was beyond furious, "Shu don't try changing the subject!" I higher my voiced. Shu turned his head away to avoid eye contact with me, "I'm not changing the subject Mal." He says. I scoffed, "Could've fooled me." I said. Valt steps forward, "It's true isn't it?" Valt says. Shu picks Spryzen from the stadium and turns to leave but Valt and I block his way. "C'mon I gotta go." Shu says, "Just tell me!" Valt says.

Shu gave us an annoyed look, "Drop it Valt." He said and stepped to the side to leave. Valt and I turned to Shu, "I know what happened with Nika, she told me everything! She saw you at the doctors!" Valt claims. Shu stopped dead in his tracks, "This really doesn't concern you." Shu says. Valt protested against it, "Does so!" Valt says, walking closer to Shu. Shu turned around with an angry look and moved closer to Valt, "It's not Nika's fault let it go!" Shu shouts.

I nudged the both of them away from each other, "You guys need to stop arguing!" I said. I looked to Shu, "Shu there's no point in hiding it from Valt, he was bound to find out." I said. Then I turned to Valt, "Valt please understand Shu had a good reason for not telling you this." I said to Valt. They both seemed to cool down, "Valt listen just let it go." Shu says. "You're hurt, do you think I'm just gonna drop this?!" Valt says.

I turned to Shu, "Shu we can't hide this from Valt" I reasoned with him. Shu sighs, "guess not." he says. Valt then comes closer, "So how bad is it?" Valt asks. Shu smiled reassuringly, "It's no biggie really, a little ice will make me right as rain." he says. He then turns to me, "Mal let's go I need to talk to you." Shu says.

Timeskip

Here I am at Shu's place sitting on the couch with him, "So...the doctor really said that?" I said. Shu nodded conflictingly, "Shu I know you promised to Valt you'd meet him in the finals, but the doctor has a point." I said. Shu looks at me as if I've grown two heads, "Mal you can't really expect me to qui-!" I cut him off. "Shu this isn't healthy if you keep at this I'm afraid that you won't be able to use your right arm anymore." I said.

I gave Shu a sad look, "I'm just speaking from experience Shu, I don't want what was done to me to happen to you." I say. "But Shu it's always going to be your choice in the end." I said, "I'll think about it..." Shu says. I gave Shu a hug to which he returned, "I'll support you on whatever choice you make whether it's quitting or continuing." I said. Shu nodded, "Thanks Mal." he says.
