The wind blew on my face hard as I held onto the side of the train with a sense of panic in my finger tips. Tears flooded my eyes as a pteranodon swooped down to grab me I was thrown back onto the top of the train. Ben wrapped me in his shaking arms, I cried and we kept moving forward to the front of the train. The crawl to the front felt like an eternity but we finally made it. Ben opened the large hatch and helped me down into it. He hopped down the hatch but lost his balance when he hit the floor. He fell onto me and I looked into his ocean and he did the same to me. i shook my head and scooted out from him and made my way to the mainframe of the train.
"Ben, we have to turn the lights off. We don't have time for anything." I said to him coldly.
"I know your scared, it's okay. We will turn the lights off." Ben returned warmly.
His soft voice dethawed my cold heart. A small smile escaped my lips despite the panic that filled me. Scanning the mainframe wildly I found a button that says lights. I went to push it but Ben moved his hand their as well our hands touched in an attempt to save everyone. He grabbed my hand and we pushed the button together. The lights flickered and went out in a brief blink. A sigh of relief came out of Ben and I's mouth and I collapsed into his arms. We made our way through the doors and back into the cart that we were in with the other camps. They all cheered our names I looked up at Ben who had a smile. We did it! Grabbing Ben's hands I crossed train carts with him until the glass shattered from the left side of the window. Olive and Bumpy whined at the sight. A large pteranodon busted through the window and grabbed me. This caused Ben to fly out the window with me, our hands grasped around each other with a sense of urgency. Darius reached down and grabbed my hand, in an attempt to pull both of us up.
"DARIUS DON'T LET GO!" I yelled in pure panic.
"I WONT, I'VE GOT YOU AND BEN! JUST HANG ON!" He called back.
The wind and the moving trees over stimulated my wandering brain as I felt Ben's hand slip, it wasn't by much but it was enough to capture my attention. Directing my gaze from Darius to Ben I noticed that his eyes we closed and his face was frozen with a soft smile. He didn't look panicked at all, Shifting my eyes towards Darius who was slipping. His hand finally let go and Ben and I plummeted towards the forest floor. When the pteranodon that had grabbed us before grabbed us again. His large beak bit at me and Ben's feet causing our fall to be broken. Hitting the ground with a hard thud, everything went dark. The last thing I remember seeing was Ben who laid beside me. Lifeless. Did he... die. No he can't be dead. I dreamt of him while I laid unconscious on the mossy floor next to him. We are meant to be together and we will be together. My dream confirmed that fantasy. I wonder if he is dreaming the same thing I am. My peaceful dream was interrupted by a dry scaly thing nudging my face. I fluttered my eyes to see Olive sitting on my chest, her eyes lightened when she noticed my eyes were open. Some one stood towering over me, he was upside down in my vision. He had wood and leaves in his arms. A thick layer of mud clouded his face, but his eyes. It was Ben.
"You're finally awake!" He said dropping the things in his arms and dropping to the floor to give me a big hug.
"Ben? You look so different." I said returning the hug.
"We all do." He said motioning to Olive and Bumpy who stood behind her.
Olive had finally grew the flaps around her head that extended open and closed when she was threatened. She was as tall as me. Bumpy was huge, but she still had her asymmetrical horns.
"How long was I asleep?" I asked rubbing my head.
"Maybe 2 months... I lost count." Ben whispered, he looked sad when he said 2 months.
"Wow, what did I miss?" I shifted.
"A lot, we are on our own. I think the others made it to the boat so it's just us." He said.
"They left..." I whispered.
Ben lowered himself to the ground and grabbed my hands, he lifted me up to my feet and walked me over to a large tree house.
"Did you make this?" I gasped.
"Yep!" He exclaimed proudly.
Bumpy and Olive took off toward the house. Olive hopped onto Bumpy's large shell and rode the rest of the way on Bumpy to the house. I'm so glad they are friends. I wish I could have seen them grow up. Ben flashed his blue oceans at me and all of my worry disappeared.
"I think it's time you got a makeover." Ben winked holding up globs of mud in his hands.
Oh no....
