"Keep your eyes closed! I don't to get mud in your eyes!" Ben giggled.
"Ben, it's so cold! My did I let you do this!" I joked.
"Because it's me. You let me do a lot of stupid stuff." Ben winked.
Bumpy coed and nudged my hand onto Ben's knee. I quickly removed it and place it onto my lap. I felt heat come from Ben's face, I didn't realize how close his face was to mine. My eyes were closed but I opened them to see Ben's oceans peering into mine. We gazed into each others oceans for what felt like our whole lives. I saw a dash of deep blue in his ocean, I had never noticed that color before. He blinked his eyes fast and leaned back. He plopped onto the grass and looked at the sky.
"You have pretty eyes." He smiled with a hint of bright red on his cheeks.
"Yours are like the ocean." I said laying down next to him.
"Really?" Ben asked surprised.
"Yeah, you have light blue ocean eyes." I winked.
I think we both remember the moment in the past when I had shared my earbuds with him the night that he was afraid I was going to be eaten by the danger that lurked outside. The song Ocean Eyes played in our ears. That was the moment I knew I loved him. I wonder if that was when he realized he loved me, too.
"Your makeover looks sick." Ben winked sitting up.
"I want to see it!" I yelled, getting up and running over to the small body of water where Bumpy was drinking.
I looked down to see black mud over my eyes and cheeks. It looked like I had a mask over my eyes, almost like a raccoon. Ben had also braided my hair; I didn't know he knew how to do that. Was he practicing on me while I was sleeping? Ben nudged me with his shoulder.
"Sick right..." Ben smiled.
"When did you learn how to braid?" I giggled.
"I've been practicing." He winked, walking away from me.
There was a sense of confidence that he had. I have never seen him have this confidence. I really like it. Don't get me wrong I love soft scared Ben, but I also love tough confident Ben. There's nothing about him that I don't like. The large treehouse towered over me and I decided to go up and inside. Olive followed me closely and came up with me. Large dinosaur skull's hung on the walls of the treehouse. An allosaurus skull caught my attention. All of the skulls that had hung on the way were painted with black and red mud, pieces of what looked like rope hung from holes in the scout of the skull. Beads were strung carfully on the ropes. The mask looked really cool. I put it on and it fit perfectly. I looked cool in it. My ripped clothing and face paint helped make me look that way. I turned around to see Ben staring at me with his mouth open.
"What? What's wrong?" I asked with a weird grin.
"N-nothing... I just... you look... Nevermind..." Ben stuttered turning bright red. He put his hands on his face and ran outside.
That was weird...
I kept messing with the different skulls that hung on the wall but the only one that fit was the allosaurus skull, so I kept it. I turned my gaze towards Olive who stared at me blankly. She cocked her head to side with a sense of confusion.
"Olive, baby it's me!" I giggled lifting the skull to reveal my face fully.
You can see my eyes through the open eye holes where the once living allosaurus's eyes were.
"Y/N COME QUICKLY!" Ben yelled outside.
I ran outside nervously; Ben was standing with his arm on Bumpy's head. He was staring into the jungle. What is he looking at?
"Do you hear that?" Ben asked.
"What, hear what!?" I yelled.
Ben grabbed me and cupped his hands around my ears. The sound got louder, it sounded like Brooklynn and Kenji. Me and Ben nodded our heads and took off after the whispers. Bumpy and Olive followed closely behind us keeping a look out for danger. We came up to a large tree where Kenji and Brooklynn's voices became louder. We peered around the tree to see Kenji and Brooklynn cornered by a man who looked tough. Ben dashed towards the man with my hand in his. He reached down and grabbed a large stick. Olive's flaps opened up around her face as she made a hissing sound. Ben smacked the man in the back of the head making him fall over onto his face. Kenji and Brooklynn's faces were surprised and confused.
"What? Never seen a ghost before?" Ben smiled.
I lifted the skull up to reveal my face, I waved a small nervous wave at the two of them. Ben had my hand in his still.
I guess we aren't alone, like Ben said. Why am I sad that we aren't alone. A piece of me secretly wishes that it was just me and Ben against the world. I just wanted to be with him. I need to tell him how I feel.
I will in the right moment.
