Adria's POV:

I woke up next morning later than usual. I let myself have a rest before the new recruits come. The first time they came I had sex with one of them and Lucian had beaten the shit out of him. I for sure won't be doing any of that this time.

I only found out yesterday as Lucian told me. He came to my room. Knocked on my door by surprise and only then walked in. The conversation was short which also was surprising. There wasn't any "Adria" or "I did it to protect you" or "we should talk". He peaked in and I quote "just a heads up, the new recruits are coming tomorrow"  and with that he was gone.

I was glad he was respecting my boundaries, leaving me alone, just like I had asked him. But deep inside of me it bothered me that he had given up so soon. Maybe I wasn't that important after all.

I was so confused what I wanted. I wanted to push him away, to move on, but at the same time I wanted him here, trying to talk to me, trying to make things right. My stomach twisted as my mind got filled with thoughts, my mind overthinking once again. I got up from bed and went to take a shower before those thoughts could get to me.

I got dressed for the day and headed downstairs to have breakfast with everyone. Lucian was sitting already in his place at the end of the table as always. I walked to the other end of the table and sat there. Everyone taking their eyes off their food and taking a good second to stare at us.

Lucian looked at me as I sat down and then looked away. His look was simple, nothing to read off of it, there was no concern this time, just a simple look. I took my fork and dug into my food.

Everyone chatted like every morning, most conversations were about the new recruits. But I kept finding myself looking at Lucian from now to then and never once was he looking at me. He was talking with Tobias and other men by his side of the table and didn't even seem to notice me. I mean, that's good. Isn't it?

I couldn't stand all the noise so I stood up from the table with my plate in my hand my chair making a screeching sound against the floor which made everyone look at me. Even Lucian. I quickly run my eyes over everyone with my face emotionless and them walked inside the small kitchen when I nibbled on my food and then threw it out as I wasn't hungry anymore.

"Hey you" Polina said walking inside the kitchen.

"Good morning" I said giving her a sweet smile.

Polina hadn't been working in the kitchen anymore, she was a full time mom now and she enjoyed almost every second of it. Almost because, I've heard her cry, I've heard her scream, I've heard her complain for hard it is, but at the end it's all worth it. And Tobias is a really good supportive father who is always involved.

"Where's the little one?" I asked her noticing she had come alone.

"Sleeping outside" she said and pitied herself a coffee.

"So how are you doing?" She asked me sitting down by the kitchen island.

"I'm good, keeping myself busy with work" I said and also took a sip from my coffee.

"Don't overwork yourself" she said "Lucian's back, so you know, you don't need to do any of those things anymore" she said in a soft voice as if trying not to hurt me by saying his name.

"I know, but I want to do it" I said and she only smiled which looked more like a forced smile.

"So the new recruits coming today?" She asked me changing the subject.

"Yes, 15 I've heard" I said and sipped my coffee that was just the right temperature right now.

"I don't want to say anything, but I thought you might want to know" she said and I looked at her furrowing my brows. "One of the new recruits used to have a thing with boss" she said and put her cup down on the marble top wrapping her hands around the cup to keep her fingers warm.
