I turn around and see Yeong-su struggling to not cry. I carefully go down the steps to be next to him and I take his hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. I look at the both of them and signal them to be silent. They nod and I grab their hands. We then slowly start to make our way up when we hear a loud thud with a groan not long after. I turn around and see the protein monster.

*Present*

"The monster is about to attack!" "Which one?!" I ask in my head. Then Su-yeong screams and goes to the floor. Not long after I quickly have Yeong-su and I fall to the floor as the hearing monster extends its arm and impales the muscle monster. I then push the kids forward and we head up the stairs as my eyes turn back to normal.

Once we get to the next floor Yeong-su then points out that we have to get to room 1408, which is on the 14th floor, yet we are on the 15th floor. I let their hands go and then feel a harsh pain on my back. I reach a hand around to feel my back and felt liquid. I brought my hand back into view to see it covered in blood. 'Just great' I though. I then hear then knocking on doors to see if anyone would let us in. I then feel liquid running from my nose. "Not another one" I whisper. I go down a different hallway and leaned on a wall.

"Just give in. I can make you strong and powerful. You won't have to worry about others. You can be alone" Sorrow says as she crouches in front of me. "They need me" I say, talking about the kids. "They have Hyun-su, who I can say doesn't need you. No one does" Sorrow says. I then glare at her while gasping through pain. "Just give in" She says. "Y/n noona!" Yeong-su says coming into view. He looks around and sees a towel in a basket. He grabs it and puts it up to my nose to try and stop the bleeding.

I the hold it as he lets go. After a couple minutes the bleeding stops. I then pull out a water bottle and pour some into my hand. I then use the water to clean off my face as Su-yeong rushes over. "Y/n unnie, are you okay?" She asks. "Yeah. I'm okay Su-yeong" I say with a soft smile. I then quickly look around to see that Sorrow was gone. I then feel a wet cloth on my face. I look at Su-yeong and softly smile at how caring she is. I tear up thinking about my little brother. She quickly finishes cleaning off the blood when we hear loud footsteps.

I look over to the opening of the hallway and pulled the kids behind me, not noticing my eyes turn the same gold color from earlier. I pull out my gun and turned off the safety, I quickly pull out its silencer that I had and quickly put it on and re-aimed it at the opening of the hallway. "Close your eyes" I say. "Su-yeong, Y/n" Yeong-su with his voice breaking. "I said close your eyes!" I say as I try to keep a strong voice, I didn't want to seem weak in front of them in a world like this.

I was about to pull the trigger when a woman with an empty stroller walks in front of us from a connecting hallway. "Please don't touch the children, okay? You can do that, right?" She asks the monster. The monster then kicks the woman into the wall. I then start to move back to push the kids away from it, to keep them safe as I promised them.

The woman then continuously says stop when the monster was approaching the stroller. The monster then crushes the stroller. The monster then started punching the lady. I then hear footsteps then see Hyun-su with both our spears alongside two other people.I must have dropped it during the chaos in the staircase.

"Go to him" I say as I turn towards them. I can see that they are hesitant to leave me. I feel my eyes go back to normal and tear up. "Go!" I say as I turn back towards the monster, watching him punch the woman to death. The kids then run towards Hyun-su. "Y/n! Come on!" He yells. I look over at him shocked at he's never said my name. The monster started to turn towards them so I put a bullet in the back of its head.

It then turned its attention on me. "Shit" I whispered to myself. It went to grab me but I rolled between its legs and realized that the achilles tendon was on full show so I put a bullet in it. It kneels down in pain so I took this chance to run towards them, putting the safety on. I then pick up the kids and Hyun-su and I run back down the stairs to get to 1408. As the other two make sure that the monster is properly dealt with.

After a 5 minutes we all make it back to Du-siks' room. Du-sik opens the door with his crutch gun pointed at us. He puts it down and I walk into view holding the kids. He lets us in and Hyun-su closes the door behind us. I set the kids down and Yeong-su breaks down crying in fear. "Hey. It's okay. We're safe now" I say softly. I move us towards the bed and I sit down. I pull him onto my lap and he cries into my shoulder.

I could see Hyun-su and Du-sik talking. I then see Hyun-su blushing but I put it off to the side as I comfort Yeong-su. After a few minutes he stops crying and I feel his breathing even out. He had cried himself to sleep. I carefully lay him on the bed and tucked him in. I gentle run my fingers through his hair and stood up. "Is he okay?" Hyun-su asks. I nod. "Just tired and scared. I don't blame him." I say softly. He nods in agreement. I sit next to the bed and lean on the frame, Hyun-su then sits next to me.

I suddenly tear up thinking back to my mom and brother, who should have been here a long time ago. I was holding on to the smallest sliver of hope for them but after what had happened just a minute ago there was no way they could get here without dying. I took all of my weapons off of me and I curled up into a ball and softly cried.

Hyun-su saw this and hesitantly put a hand on my back. He then moved it to my shoulder and gently pulled me into his embrace. I then softly cried in his arms. What I failed to notice was Hyun-su looking over at Du-sik and Du-sik nodding with a thumbs up. After 5 minutes I stopped crying and quickly fell asleep in his arms.
