Day 4 - Monday, Inset Day
Chapter 1 - Getting Along Session
Alfred
After saying goodbye to our very good friends, Matthew and Mark, we left the museum to continue on with our journey. As the doors were opened for us, we realised how long it had been since we had seen the light of the sun, it partially blinding us as we went down the stone staircase. When we had adjusted our eyes, we looked to Jay for directions.
"Alright, if moss grows in the North..." Jay began, staring at a large oak tree. "Down this way should be our general direction!"
"Are you sure, Jay?" Matilda asked.
"Positive!" Jay replied.
"Good stuff, now let's get going!" Matilda said.
Matilda led the way, followed happily by Dave, Jay and I. Dave was really enjoying today, taking in his surroundings moving his head from side to side to side, whilst flicking his hair back every once in while to get it out of his eyes. Jay seemed to be enjoying the sun, after all, it was never as warm as this in England. Matilda just had to look forward and lead us back, not too hard of a job, and I supposed she didn't find it too boring.
Eventually, we all found everything boring, Dave seemed to get bored of looking around the surroundings which were basically the same the whole way, Jay seemed bored too, now trying to avoid the cracks in the pavement. Matilda was the same, kicking a small stone across the pavement. I decided to speak up.
"Sorry for breaking the silence," I said.
"No need to apologise, I'm glad you did," Matilda said.
"How about I bring up a subject?" I suggested. "What are you guys' worst fears, for example?"
"Large crowds and the dark,'' Dave replied, shivering at the thought of both. "But actually, maybe my worst fear is losing any of you, because you're my best friends!!"
"Now that I think about it, same here,'' Jay said.
"Yep, it'd be awful to..." Matilda said.
"I guess we'd all be alone without each other around,'' I said.
We all nodded in agreement.
"How about I just keep introducing subjects?" I asked.
Everyone nodded once again.
"How about...pets? Does anyone have any pets?"
"I have a pet dog, her name is Brownie!" Dave said.
"I have a pet ferret, it's name is Patches," Matilda said.
We all gave her a confused look.
"You know, ferrets? They're like these long fluffy things!" Matilda said.
None of us seemed to be able to picture it in our minds at all. Matilda then rolled her eyes and said, "Never mind, I also have a pet fish named Aqua."
"I used to have pet fish... They died," Jay said, sorrowfully.
"What happened to them Jay...?" Dave asked.
"One was called Goldie, one was called Blu, Blu ate Goldie and then died of indigestion."
I couldn't help but snigger at the irony, but I did my best to calm myself down in order not to hurt Jay's feelings.
"Do you have any other pets, Jay?" Matilda asked.
"I have a black and white dog, his name is Walker," Jay said, now in a better mood.
"I have a red parrot named Phoenix,'' I said.
