Chapter 1 - Again, Alto?
Day 9 - Friday, School Day
Back home, the four friends fell asleep after hearing worried words from their parents and siblings.
"Where had you gone off to?" they asked.
They told the story over and over and over, ignoring the part about them saving the world from a fire-breathing dragon.
Even having done all this, the four still had to go to school the next day, quite unfair, I know, but I suppose that's just the law.
Everything was now at amends, all the damage that the solar storm had caused had been repaired, and according to the news, "with no explanation."
Obviously the four knew of how, but they said nothing, after all, nobody would believe them anyway. It was too much of a far-fetched story.
Dave woke up to his (fire) alarm at half past 6 in the morning, as did his friends. Dave had delicious pancakes for breakfast, drizzled with maple syrup, Jay had some waffles, Matilda had some freshly baked croissants and Alfred had a traditional English Breakfast, you know, eggs, bacon and all that stuff.
At quarter to 8 they all made their way to the train station, now in working service, in order to catch the 7:59 train to Cheshunt. The station was a short walk away, they could take the bus though, but they decided not to, the buses were full of people going to work at this time of morning.
And besides, why wouldn't you want to walk through Stoketown Square?
Stoketown Square was in fact not shaped as a square, but a circle. There was a large fountain in the middle surrounded by buttercups, and butterflies seemed to like hanging around there.
Around there were wooden benches where obviously, people sat. A regular visitor was a musician, who made a living playing his guitar on the street, and he seemed to be making quite a bit of money. Another occasional visitor was an elderly lady who came daily to feed the pigeons, but Jay didn't call pigeons pigeons, he called them "pidjoes" because he genuinely thinks that his cousin Joe is a pigeon.
Around the "Square" was a large roundabout for cars and buses, and this roundabout trailed off in 4 directions, North, South, East and West.
The four came from the East and then went through the "Square" up North to the station. As probably anticipated, they took the train and then alighted at the station nearest to their school, Emerald Green.
After alighting at the station, it was a 15 minute walk to school past the suburbs and quite a large graveyard.
Their first lesson which started at 10 to 9 was Maths, where they learnt about the area of cones and spheres. Dave commented, "Now we can find the area of our ice creams!"
The next lesson was French, whereas they learnt adjectives of personality, like "stupide" and "gentille."
After that was Geography where they learnt about how thousands of rubber ducks were released into the sea.
After that was a 20 minute break. The four were all together on one of the picnic tables outside, Dave, once again, munching on a sandwich. Alfred was having a drink of what should've been water, but since his bottle was opaque, he was actually drinking orange juice.
Matilda was having a strawberry smoothie from the school cafeteria.
Jay was having some homemade biscuits that his mother had baked that morning.
"Hey, you four!" something exclaimed.
Matilda, Dave, Alfred and Jay stopped what they were doing and searched for the voice. However, there was nobody around except the children playing football, in which the score had somehow gotten to 35-24. Hmm, maybe they were actually playing rugby.
