Chapter 1 - Slow Child
Alfred
We plodded up the seemingly endless stairs, all the way to the top of this 25 storey flat. The top was a large landing, and this was where Jay's Uncle lived.
Then, Jay knocked on the door. There was no answer.
Jay seemed a little agitated by this, and knocked harder on the door.
Again, no answer.
Jay seemed pretty impatient now, and he knocked the door yet again.
Still, no response.
Jay was now furious, and he prepared to give the door an almighty slam, that probably would've broken the door down in my opinion, but the door was saved, as a 9 or so year old decided to open it.
Well, thank goodness, replacing that door would've probably cost a lot.
"Took your damned time," Jay muttered. "But it doesn't matter, l never expected much from you Joseph, you can't even come and answer the door for your big cousin fast enough. Slow child."
"Says the person who still owes me £5.20. Broke child." the so-called Joseph said. "What are you even doing here? Have you brought your girlfriend with you or something?"
"Matilda's not my..." Jay began.
He stopped to the somewhat aghast and blank look on Matilda's face.
"Jay, shut your cousin up before I bash his face in," Matilda said.
"Whatever. Jay, what are you even bothering me for? It's a lovely inset day. I want it in peace!" Joseph protested.
"Alright calm down... We're completely lost. We need somewhere to stay for a while," Jay explained.
Joseph sighed in annoyance and shouted, "Uncle Terry! You have visitors!"
After a somewhat long amount of time, a man began to come up slowly to the door. I presumed this was Jay's Uncle.
"Is everyone in your family this slow?" I murmured to Jay.
Jay gave me an angry look and then exclaimed, "I'm not slow!"
"Slow child," Joseph mocked.
"Oh shut up Joseph," Jay ordered.
"Jay's such a slow child!" Joseph continued.
"Ah, but not as slow as you Joseph."
This comment was made by the one and only, Jay's Uncle.
What a roast!
Joseph gave his Father an angry glare, but decided to hang around.
I wish he had left.
"Nice one Uncle Terry," Jay said, mainly just to infuriate Joseph. "I must agree, if I am a slow child then I don't even know what Joseph here would be."
"Yes, exactly. Joseph is, I must agree, a very, very slow child," Uncle Terry insulted.
Joseph was really, really angry now. I could see his face turning a scarlet red, as he looked away and crossed his arms.
"Well, leaving poor Joseph alone, good morning to you Jay," Uncle Terry began. "And I suppose that this is your girlfriend you have here?"
"Please stop asking!" Jay seemed to beg, a desperate yet awkward look on his face.
I looked over to see Matilda's reaction, but she was trying to make sure Dave didn't fall off the flat while looking off the edge.
"He didn't deny it!" commented Joseph.
