LISTEN

So many things I want to say
Harken and Listen!
My time is ticking
My mouth itches
To say those things that are so brittle
That are hidden in the confines of my heart
My sacred shrine

The flame of Africa is lit in poetic sessions
Igniting the flames of these poets visions
Ravaging
Raging
Revolting
But revolutionary

It propagates
Timeless
Shameless
Imperfect
Yet Necessary

We be the living poetic martyrs
That bear the poetic satires
We’ve sought them like a gold panner
So that we can lift the golden banner

So listen
Listen to the voice of Africa rattle
We be the poets that bear the golden mantle
Cursed be the foreign puppet that said we shall lose the battle

The beams of the sun’s rays
Dry us to make living hay
Now we dance merry and gay
As we’ve seen the night decay
Harken! Hear what I say
Listen as the night decays!
