Have deleted your number
Let it go down the history lane
Like a former ruling party member
Now facing the rejection caneLike an out of syllabus textbook
It's need has become obsolete
Though it was a good cook
It's now just an empty plateMy lips still have the aftertaste
Of uttering your name
But time will be the toothpaste
And in another time a new nameHave deleted your number
But have not forgotten
For it was more than a just number
It was the path to the cisternBut the well is dried up
And the water is no more
It's not that I have given up
But there's nothing to hold on to anymoreLike a worn-out pair of shoes
You no longer fit comfortably
I've outgrown the old blues
And embraced the new liberating meYou were once my guiding star
But now you're just a fading light
I've come so incredibly far
It's time to bid you a final goodnight
