...
Public company I avoid
But without people, I feel void
I need to chat else I'll be annoyed
I need company to fill this void
Looking into the mirror, I reflect
At how I see myself from society's lenses
Their thoughts about me attract
A mixture of emotions and tenses
A reason to stand up and voice out
A reason to stay calm and cool down
A reason to proclaim in a loud shout
A reason to tone down and slow down
What invisible ointment is there to apply?
To be unseen yet felt and recognized
To ask curiously and receive a fair reply
To have no fear of being shamed and penalized
To be free to interact and contribute
Voice out without being on the spotlight
Yet still be heard and receive the salute
Be remembered for putting up a good fight
I don't like the innuendo and the scrutiny
Yet love the reassurance and the encouragement
To be judged over the futile minute and tiny
Are reasons I avoid the public and it's indictment!
I'm no shy person but I'm not confident either
I have guts though to talk I avert
That I am deemed as a quiet rather
But I am just a simple ambivert!
