"Venti?"

He looked back through the forest, he had a perfect view of her where as she saw nothing but trees and bushes. He sighed, his heart winning the battle versus his thoughts.

"Yes it's me, Barbara...I heard your voice and the tone you had, so I figured you needed help."

His voice sounded dull, his usual energy was gone and so was his cheery laughter. Barbara began to step into the woods and saw Venti a little while after, she saw a dried tears on his cheeks and his puffy red eyes. She then used her hands to wipe the dried tears off his face, smiling softly at him.

"Venti, what's got your lovable energy and cheeriness down? I really adore it, so I would do anything to see it again."

He paused before responding, his cheeks couldn't help but turn the color of a light pink that clashed with his green clothes. He grabbed her wrists with his hands and looked directly in her eyes with his sorrowful and guilty eyes. Barbara's eyes didn't hide her shocked expression, but rather embraced it. She took a quick glance at her wrists but went back to looking at him, noticing that he too was looking at her.

"Lovable..?...Anything..?"

"Mmm...Yes...I-I mean not to be weird or anything! Just...what I think when I see you and well I didn't think someone like you could get so down...It must be something serious, huh? Even if you don't want to share it, I'm always here for anything you need...You're someone I can relate to, and someone who brings me joy so you too should feel the same way!"

"...Well..."

That's when he heard something and made them both duck. There was a crew of fatui now surrounding them now, and so Venti swept Barbara into his arms and glared at every single one of them. This is exactly what he had feared, it was something cruel that celestia did to him, he hated it.

"Oh my oh my, what a lucky catch" one of the cicin mages stated.

"Yes sister it truly is a lucky catch, [] will be happy with us" another stated.

"A lucky catch you say?
Short will be your stay.
Further you will not step
Or I shall destroy your rep."

Venti spoke in rhymes whenever insulting or threatening someone is what Barbara had noticed...She was more concerned as to why the fatui called the two a lucky catch, after all she was just a nun and Venti was a simple bard. That's when a wind current began to pick up around them and used dust and dirt as a shield from their opponents' view.

"I swear I won't let them lay a finger on your Barbara, after all what type of....never mind that, we have a fight to focus on."

After formulating a plan, Venti removed the wind current and their shield disappeared as Venti charged his bow and injured one of the fatui in the legs rendering them useless, then blowing another into a tree making them faint. Eventually all of the fatui were on the ground, cursing in defeat. Barbara looked at Venti, she had seen how ruthless he could be, she could also tell he wanted to rid of them forever but held back. Then one of the awake fatui members commented...

"You will regret this Barbatos! Freedom only leads to weakness!"

Venti stared down at him, whilst Barbara stared at Venti due to the comment. Holy Barbatos is all she could think, after all finding out your friend(*cough* crush *cough*) is a god would be quite the shocker. Venti knocked out the fatui member and looked at Barbara, not knowing what to say....Then Barbara got on her knees and bowed, as this was the god she worshiped and worked for every day and he's been protecting her as well.

"Oh Barbatos! Thank you for-"

"Barbara, there is no need for my friend to be bowing before me. After all I prefer to just be your average bard who likes wine~ But please, do get up..."

She looked up at him and began to stand, until a dagger found her leg...She quickly began to fall over and Venti caught her, then he held her bridal style. He couldn't focus on anything but her, and so he created a rideable wind current and began to take her back to the cathedral.

—————————————————————————

Venti POV:
I had to bring her back to the cathedral once she got stabbed...The only reason that happened is because I was too close to her...if I had been alone, then she wouldn't have been hurt. What exactly did they want from me anyways? I was behind the cathedral by the graves, looking at the scenery and sighing...Now she's in even more danger because she knows who I truly am...How much more complicated could it get? Why am I even staying here, waiting for her? I was trying to avoid her too, how ironic. Then a church worker came and talked to me about how the hell she got stabbed. I was disappointed in myself and blamed myself, I said it was my fault and I couldn't protect her. I went inside to glance at her while she was sleeping, making sure she seemed well. I turned around and began to find Morax with all his knowledge about what I should do, and so my trip to Liyue began.
